Poly-vi-sol

Did anyone else have a bad experience when giving their baby poly-vi-sol. My pedi recommended to try and give her poly-vi-sol but said that most baby's don't take it and that's ok. Yeah the odor is bad and it tastes terrible but my daughter did take it no problem. The problem was the side effects after. She has always been a very good baby from day one. Only fusses when she's hungry or dirty diaper, the whole nine. That's how I knew something was wrong when she screamed for hours inconsolable after giving her the poly-vi-sol. So I didn't give it to her the next day and she was completely fine. Never again am I giving her that crap.

My kids hated it.  I haven't even tried with this LO because it was so despised by the other two.  My ped said its not a big deal if I don't.  Obviously the other boys turned out fine :)

  • Same thing that stuff is nasty
  • I've never given it to any of my boys.
  • This may be a dumb question but is that the tri vitamins?
  • A little different than tri vi sol. There's tri vi sol and poly vi sol. Both by enfamil
  • My pedi recommended poly iv sol at his first check up. Neither of my kids took it, so I didn't force it! I smelt it and felt so bad for having to have them take it! Yuck!

We do the D Drops (order them on Amazon). One drop on his paci a day. It doesn't have any taste and he doesn't mind it. I feel like DS has spent the first two months of his life inside, so I'm trying to be better about giving the drops than I was with DD (who was a spring baby, and got outside all the time)

  • My pedi recommends the TriViSol till 12 months or so, then to switch to the PolyViSol. They get the majority of what they need from BM or formula except the vitamin D and C. DD1 took the TriViSol straight with no problem (probably because it doesn't have that vitamin-y smell) but I have to hide the PolyViSol in juice because she doesn't like the taste/smell. LO is taking the TriViSol well also.

  • Yep hated vi-d-sol over here too. She looked at me like I was poisoning her. I switched to a natural one drop one. Much better! I just put 1 drop on my nipple and she doesn't even notice.

I use this kind too; the only ingredient is olive oil. LO does not give a shiz if his drops are cherry flavored
