nightime diaper question

Hey all! Overnight I've been putting lo in size 6 diapers, and he is peeing through them almost every night. I've been using the baby dry pampers. Any other diapers / methods/ ideas? He's waking up early because of it! Thanks!

Re: nightime diaper question

  • Maybe a pull up? What size is he in during the day? No advice from experience.

  • Have you tried Pampers Extra Protection?  We used those one size up.  They seriously hold like 20lbs of pee ;)

This is what we use and have never had an accident.

  • We use Huggies size 4 snug & dry during the day and Huggies Overnights size 5 at night.  We have used Pampers during the day and I feel like they just don't hold as much pee as Huggies.

  • Do you use an overnight diaper, or just a bigger one? We use Huggies overnights one size up. I think she's ready to move from a size 6 to a size 7 soon for overnight.

Pull-ups won't hold as much, just a heads-up. They're less absorbent, more made for accidents.

  • Does he drink a lot of liquid right before bed? Would it make sense to cut back or stop an hour or so before bedtime? Since B stopped taking her bedtime bottle, her diapers haven't been so heavy.

  • Maybe you could try some plastic training pants over the diaper. We used them over DD's underwear at night during potty training, and she never leaked onto her pjs or sheets. We had these: https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=18330186&cp=&parentPage=search

DS is in up&up day and night and we haven't really had leaking issues.

  • Thanks for all the responses!  I've already cut feedings in half an hour before bedtime, and I had already increased the diaper a size (size 6), so I was needing more help! Thanks again!

  • Huggie night time diapers work great for us. I haven't needed to go up a size at night AND we still have milk right before bedtime. They keep her nice and dry.

This, only we are size 4 for both. When jax was in a size 1 someone gave us size 2 baby dry and she soaked through them in an hour most times. More than annoying!!

  • Another vote for Huggies Overnights. I bought the Pampers night time diapers this last time, but am going to go back to Huggies. Pampers seem to leak just a bit more (for us) and are slightly more expensive.

I also read the same about Pull-Ups. Not made to be absorbent (you want potty training kids to knew when they've gone). What I read also said kids tend to get bad diaper rash due to this.
  • The only ones that seem to work for ds, because he was peeing through his are the Pampers Swaddlers. He is in a size 5, but I think he could go to a size 6. I just bought Luvs the other day because they were so much cheaper and I regret doing so. They are going back today!
