I just had to share this gem

We have a HDBD on my facebook group. I generally get along with this person very very well. We even speak outside of the group more as friends. So she makes this comment under MY photo.

"It makes me happy seeing yall looking like cows!!! Ha! I'm jk!" . Well let's be honest, there was some truth behind that... I can't tell you how many times I went back to my picture wondering what would possess her to say that. And now I can't help but dislike her! Man I could have gone without hearing that! OK end vent/rant. Just thought I would share that lovely little gem for the night.

I also want to add that as a fellow pregnant woman don't you think she would know better than to make comments like that? I think I am just taking it a bit too personally because I thought we were cool, you know?

Re: I just had to share this gem

  • Yeah, I was pretty offended. I don't want to blame hormones for possibly overreacting to the comment, but me and her personally have had a little bit of a "bond" (for lack of better word) outside of the group. Maybe she thinks since we are closer that she can make comments like that and get away with it.

Lol. Geez thank you that's the look I was going for. Glad to hear it's coming along. I have a friend who always makes snide remarks like "look at you Chubbs! !" But she's always been that way so it's easy for me to not take it so personally

I get "come on fatty" from DH and my dad all the time. I side eye them. They say "but you are". I then have to remind them that it's not fat, it's baby. Also, if she thinks we all look like cows now, what will she think when we have breast pumps clamped to each boob and are milking ourselves? Mooooooo!
    haha!

  • What a twat! I would have been pissed. I have one friend who can make comments about my weight and she sure as heck wouldn't say anything like that!!! She says stuff like "o wow your getting big, how cute". I know she means no harm and we are best friends so its different IMO.

  • Delete her comment.  When she figures out that you did, you can privately tell her that it upset you.

My dad and grandfather make comments like this all the time and truly believe that it's an endearing way to relate to me during pregnancy and not offensive at all.  I'm not saying it's okay- but I have learned to roll my eyes at them b/c I can't teach an old dog new tricks.

  • I don't think you're being too sensitive. That would really hurt my feelings if someone said that to me, joking or not!

Sorry :( and although I didn't see the picture I'm sure you look BEAUTIFUL!!! I love all the preggo bumps!!
    imageimageimage
  • Yea that would piss me off too!  She should've known better than to say that, especially since she is pregnant as well!
  • That's not even a half funny joke.  I'd be sending her daily pictures/gifs of cows...maybe with her face photoshopped onto some of them.
  • My guess (giving her the benefit of the doubt) is that she meant it as a joke. I had a hard time getting it through my DH's head that even though I know I'm supposed to be bigger and that it's good for the baby joking about it is not funny. My friends are all like you're pregnant you're supposed to be big but as someone that's been athletic and slender my whole life I sometimes cry, I know I'm healthy I'm right in the middle of where I should be weight wise. You weren't over reacting going through a physical change like this can make you super sensative since when you look in the mirror you don't see what you're used to seeing regardless of if it's healthy or not our lovely emotional brains sometimes get the best of us.

This is what I am thinking and I say this with a lot of sensitivity behind it because I have also been very athletic and I certainly am struggling with my self image. She has made A LOT of comments about herself and how "huge" she is. Which she really isnt. She looks pregnant and that's that. I think she sees other woman at different stages of their pregnancy or who may just aren't growing like she is and she got a little insecure and needed to throw that comment out there so she could feel better about it. She looks cute and I don't think she looks "huge" even a little bit but of course that's just me and I'm not going to change the way she feels about herself

  • A little high school if you ask me. "Let's make the other girls feel as bad as I do so I can feel better". Not nice. Especially to people who give her the up most respect and support her with every little thing. Ah oh well

  • I probably would've responded with something like this:

    image
  • I just wonder what (or if) people are even thinking sometimes! That comment was rude, I don't care if it's a friend or not! Yesterday I had someone come sit across from me and go on and on and on about how huge and miserable I looked and how they couldn't believe I had 3 months to go, and oh how they felt so bad for me because I was just going to be so ginormous! I wasn't really offended, I iust thought "wow this woman is a weirdo'...... Who says that kind of stuff? Anyway, my husband always calls me fatty and if I say hey! He goes... I only say it because you aren't.
  • She's insensitive bitch!!! Woah WTF sorry you had to experience that!

See like I was saying before, I think a little insecurity took over and she had word vomit. She is NOT obese. She looks very good IMO. But she has made several comments about how "huge" she is and how "huge" she feels. She never even participated in this weeks hdbd. I think she is dealing with more pressing issues and maybe just took it out on me

    It's a BOY

  • Yeah usually when people say stuff like this, it's because they are feeling bad about themselves and want to bring people down to their level. Sorry that happened :(
