Third-Party Reproduction

Intro and question (child mentioned)

Hi!

My name is Sarah, I live in Massachusetts and this spring I am going to start the journey to carry a baby (traditional surrogacy) for my cousin and his husband. My egg, the husband (J) sperm.

I will be inseminating at home when ovulating. The IP's live 3 hrs away and will be coming to our home during my ovulatin window to provide me with fresh semen.

Just wondering if there are others involved in a traditional surrogacy and if anyone has any tips on inseminating at home. (My DH is fully supportive but is not interested in helping with the actual insemination part)
Child mentioned here:

I have two girls of my own now, Avery (2 1/2) and Harriet (10 months). I'm excited for this and hope I can form some friendships and learn some things from you all!!

  • You might go over to the LGBT board and search old threads for "ICI" - I know there was one recently for all the people using known donors and doing at-home insemination. You could also post over there and ask for at-home ICI experiences. :) We're a nice bunch over there, and except for a few of us who had to do IVF, everyone does ICIs and IUIs.

I always recommend "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" for tracking all the signs of ovulation. Someone told me once an OPK is like looking at a room through a keyhole, using this book is like opening the door and walking in the room.
