I'm wondering if I'm being nuts. My 18 month old still loves being in the Ergo. I love it too but I hate adjusting it. I'm wondering if it is just too stupid to buy a second Ergo for #2, due in May. I can't imagine how much longer #1 will like riding around on Mommy, though we just started back-carrying, which she currently thinks is cooler than Disneyland.
Re: 2nd Ergo?
Hey I have an ERGO Question. I bought a ring sling for DS and maybe used it twice. With another baby on the way, I am guessing I will want to baby wear more. Do you guys only use your ERGO? Can you put a newborn in an ERGO?
Thanks! And sorry to hijak your post!
we have an ergo..use it a bunch. Personally I did not like to wear DD#1 in the ergo when she a newborn. we always had a hard time with the infant insert, it wasn't the easiest thing to assemble and get on. We started using it a ton around the 4-5 month range. We do back carry her now but use the umbrella stroller a fair amt as well...so I don't think we're going to invest in another.
I also have a ring sling and moby. I'll probably use those more when #2 is small...they'll be 19 months apart..so by the time #2 gets in the ergo..#1 will be 2. just my rationale on not buying any more carriers!
For a teeny baby, I made a no-sew mei tai, which was great. But I'm also intrigued by the newborn insert for the Ergo. DH hated the mei tai bc it never felt secure to him. But he likes the Ergo. And there is just something so adorable about a baby-wearing man! Lol.
I have considered getting a second one because I have had occasions in which wearing both kids completely hands-free would be awesome. I have done toddler on my back in the Ergo and baby on the front in a ring sling, but I feel like the ring sling requires more support (ie one hand/arm).
And while DD1 is completely independently mobile, there is some degree of "my turn" to ride in the carrier and some degree of it just being fun. It's like a more secure piggy back ride and what kid doesn't like that?
Anyway, I'm pro-Ergo, but they are crazy expensive. If you shop around, you can get better prices. Sometimes they show up on discount sites like Zulily or Gilt or the like. Other people have found them at TJMax or Marshall's or the like. And you could always check Mommy Groups or CL for used ones. Also, if you attend/join a Baby Wearing International group meeting, they have samples to try and even a lending library.
Our tickers are almost identical (minus your 2 year old).. Crazy!
