Bedtime concerns

My 18 month old DD is a really great sleeper but she does have her occasional nights where she doesn't sleep well due to different reasons. I've been noticing that when it is close to her bed time and my hubby and I tell her we need to get ready for bed or you're going to bed in a few minutes that she jumps into my lap and wants some milk and her blanket and will lay there for awhile and then keep wanting something before going to bed. When she is done with her milk I will brush her teeth, rock her, sing to her, and then lay her down in her crib. She usually doesn't have a problem with this and will roll around a bit, maybe cry a little, or talk herself to sleep. The past few nights when I have been putting her down to sleep she has popped right up and called for me and I won't go back in because she is mainly not wanting to go to sleep or isn't ready and I will walk out of her room and she will cry really hard for awhile. We have let her cry as long as 10 or 15 minutes when she does that and then will go and console her and then she usually will go to sleep after that. I don't know if she is scared of something or if I could be missing something with why she is crying when she goes to bed. Most the time she goes to sleep just fine and will sleep really well. I didn't do much of the cry it out method for her before she was 12 months old because I didn't feel that was right for her and just before she turned 12 months old she told us "nite-nite" and so we put her to bed and she went right to sleep. Ever since then we have stuck to that and she has tried to test our patience with crying and doing whatever she can to get our attention when we know she is fine and is just tired and needs to get rest. Anyone else deal with this? Thanks!

Re: Bedtime concerns

  • I am wondering if it's that too. She goes to daycare full time and gets very excited when I get home and is a big momma's girl so it could just be she is not wanting to be away from me which I make sure to play with her and give her attention that she wants and talk with her and such. Congrats on baby number 2!! How exciting!
