..do your babies stay calm when you set them in a stationary place (i.e. on your lap, laying on the floor, in RnP, baby bouncer/lounge chair, etc)? Mine is 6 weeks and will start crying after only a couple minutes (if that) of not patting his back to be burped, walked around, bounced, rocked,or fed. I don't mind giving him all the attention but I'm not sure its normal that if he's not being stimulated in some way he's automatically crying/fussing. I'm curious if there should be longer periods of more content independant time. It has been this way all along so I don't relate this to a growth spurt but maybe something else? He also strains so much he gave himself a small umbilical hernia. Not sure that has anything to do with anything just thought I'd add that. TIA

Re: how long..
I wonder if your LO is overstimulated?
LO is 5w and is the same way. If she is awake, she is not content in one place for more than a few minutes without fussing. It's very tiring, especially as she is awake longer as she gets older. Luckily she sleeps well at night but it really wears on me during the day.
