Valentine's Day help!

Ok ladies, I need some fun and creative ideas for Valentine's Day and I'm seriously having problems this year!!! My husband is pretty mushy lovey - and he loves homemade gifts. So last year I made him this date night in a jar and he loves watching Chopped so I tied a ribbon around the Chopped Challenge stick so he would pick that one and then had 3 baskets waiting for him in the kitchen to do his very own Chopped Challenge. He absolutely LOVED it! And the year before that, I made him the 52 Reasons I Love You 'book' and he looks at it all the time. This year I literally have no ideas and I'm hoping you ladies will have some suggestions for me to pick from! Please, if you have any fun crafty homemade ideas, send them my way!

  • I love going to the local paint your own pottery place and making stuff. You could make him a cup, plate, wall hanging... (Anything really). And you could put something on it about the incoming baby <3

  • We're not big on Valentine's Day, but I have done the "man bouquet" on other occasions.  Take lots of little things your man likes (candy, gum, small alcohol bottles), attach them to dowels, put some styrofoam in a flower pot, and then arrange all the dowels like they are flowers.  My guy is big into whiskey, I think I'm going to make him a personalized label for his favorite kind, maybe with "Dad to Be" or "Best Husband" and some pics on it.  And if you are on Pinterest, I'm sure they have tons of ideas!

  • One year hubby took a pic from where we went on our first anniversary and did a glass painting (think that is the best way to describe it) and I adore it. Brings back so many memories and he put such effort into it.
  • Ooh, that reminds me.  Apparently there is a new app called WaterLogue (haven't used it myself but I have seen it on Instagram).  You send in a picture and it makes a watercolor version of it.  I think you can have them printed out/framed.  That might be something cool to do with a wedding pic or fave pic of you two.

  • Awesome ideas! Keep them coming! (We could also use these ideas as 'Daddy Gifts' for when the baby is born too! - kind of like a 'push present' for him). LOL!

  • I got him a "where we met" map puzzle (clicky link)  The piece over the address is a heart, and some of the other pieces spell out "I love you."  I figure it'll be something fun for us to do together, and then we can frame it and hang it when we're done.  I'm pretty excited!

  • Check out www.thedatingdivas.com. They have SO many ideas! The ones I've used have gone over well.
  • There is a website that will send a picture of the night sky for any location, date and time. It comes with a legend to explain all the constellations. I did that one year for his bday because he's in to astronomy.

This year he's having his tonsils out the day before so he's getting vicodin. :)

  • You could make a Shutterfly book with your favorite pictures of the two of you.  I made one for my husband a few years ago and he really loved it.
  • You could do a coupon book of stuff that he does not have to do when the baby comes. Like 1 no changing a poop diaper, 1 night of feedings so you can sleep. I have thought of something like this before and find it really cute.
  • Way back when I did a scavenger hunt for him leading him to all different places we've been to. He had a blast figuring it all out.

  • I get my bf tickets every year... Last year was Bon Jovi -- he had to wait until July for the concert... But it was a pretty friggen kick ass best ever concert & so worth the wait.
I usually get him sport event tickets. Can't go wrong. He just has to wait for whatever event it is. My bf isn't mushy at all, though, and loves sports.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

kjohnson1002 - this is a really good idea...that's how he asked me to marry him, he sent me on an 'Amazing Race' scavenger hunt and it was so awesome!! I'll have to think really really hard about this but I love it :) Thanks for suggesting!!

  • I've done the big giant card that uses candy to write the card. Candy bouquets and I did a grab and go one. Took a pack of beer and attached snacks like nuts chips and jerky to each beer. Grab and go! I've sent little things to him all week too. I also have to find something.
  • @joules235 - rawr, rawr! Super sassy and fun! With the way my mind has been lately? (and for most of my life) it would only have sex acts on the papers. LOL! I love the fact that your husband writes the dates on them and puts them back in the jar! So romantic :)

One year for Christmas I gave my DH a gift of 12 envelopes -one for each month- with a planned date in each one and all of the money, etc needed for that particular date. He opened the month's envelope on the first of each month, then we picked a day for the date, so we could arrange child care. Some ideas I used were movie and dinner, hiking/picnic, ice skating, kayaking, local winery, murder mystery theater, home dates with a sexy theme....this was good for us with a little one, as it sometimes is hard to find time for just you and DH after lo is here. I made sure to have relatives on board for babysitting too! We still didn't do all of the dates due to busy schedules, etc, but I know my DH loved the idea of me setting aside time and effort for only him.

  • You ladies are so creative! Love it! My husband's NOT super mushy and would probably prefer to ignore Valentine's Day, but I want to make this one special since it's the last one before baby gets here.
  • I am doing a basket I found on Dating Divas. It is full of his favorite things- beer, chocolates, new white tshirts, lingerie (for me to wear), Ford things, etc. hopefully he likes it!

No need to specify here, I wouldn't have judged!

  • This is what we're gonna be doing this valentines! Can't wait to see his face when he pulls back the covers and sees this! Plus, it costs less than $30 for everything! https://eastcoastcreativeblog.com/2012/01/perfect-valentines-gift-game-of-love.html

You rule so hard! I'm going to pretend that you're my new best friend. Not in a creepy way though, k? You know, just talk about you at work. "Oh, my best friend Rachel, she said that..."

  • So to start off the Valentine's week, I printed these love notes from this website: https://happyhomefairy.com/. (This website has tons of cute ideas!!!) On Saturday I started putting them in random places and let me tell you, my husband has loved finding these little notes. He has them all lined up on top of the dresser in the order he has gotten them so far. The best was yesterday - he had to clean up some cat barf (so romantic I know) and when he walked away, I put the "I want to nail you" one in his line of vision and then ran off to the bedroom :) He finished up and quickly came running into the bedroom and we spent a few hours in there! :) Whoop Whoop!! So I'm doing those and then a few things he needs (some clothes) and then I decided to get him this. Because he got me these for a wedding gift and recently lost his keys and is super upset that he lost his half of the puzzle. I'd like to get him a cute "I love my daddy" onsie from the baby too :)
