Let's lighten it up a bit..

Lol. After today and last night I figured we could have something to lighten the mood, for now . I didn't want to make my title "How did you tell.." because we have had numerous of those like "how did you tell your family" and "how did you tell your co-workers", but I haven't seen any that say how you told your SO except on other boards like the 1st trimester when I searched. Although it is on the 1st trimester there is such a broad range of us here on the August 2014 board plus we have ladies who have now hit that 2nd trimester mark. If I over looked it, oops, I apologize. So, with that being said, how did you tell your H/BF/SO that you were pregnant?

For myself, I hadn't been feeling well for the past few days and we had been trying but knew that when the time was right it would happen for us. I had H stop at a store on the way home from dinner one night for some tests. I had always told myself I would have a "cute and surprising" way to tell him he would be a dad.. Yep, that didn't happen. I showed him the stick and said, "you're going to be a dad" and then I went to bed because I felt so horrible.

We agreed not to take a test until December so that way it would be clear that I missed my period. Instead, I took one of the early response tests around Thanksgiving.

Me: Don't be mad...

DH: Why would I be mad? 

Me: I took a test

DH: REALLY? I thought we were going to wait!

Me: It was positive...

DH: *silence and smiles*

The end...nothing too exciting there. (:

With DD, he got a text picture of the stick while he was on the golf course.

I made a little video of all of our pictures to our song and the video was called, "The Story of Us."  That part ended and the next screen said, "Our next chapter..." and the song, "Small Bump" started playing with a letter that I had written to my husband as the baby, "Dear Daddy,....", then I had pictures of the positive tests.  It was an awesome moment, and we'll be able to save it forever

I found out at lunch time on a Wednesday (Dec 18th), the first day of my missed period.  My husband is just slightly obsessed with Indiana University (especially basketball) because that is his alma mater.  I planned ahead & bought an IU onesie.  When he got home from work that night I casually said that I had a Christmas present that I wanted him to open early.  Inside it was the positive test with the onesie wrapped around it.  His face when he opened it up was priceless and he said "what is this?"  Then the pregnancy test dropped onto the floor and he said "I don't even know what to say".  I think it's the first time I've rendered him speechless!  We had been trying for about 5 months so it was pretty exciting. 

It was VERY hard for me to keep my mouth shut while he was at work & also when he called me on his drive home!

I bought DS a big brother book and wrapped it and put the tests in an envelope and put to Daddy on it, then made them open them at the same time.

Honestly, I'd thought about it for a WHILE.  My husband had been told since he was 12 that he couldn't have children, so I always thought, "well what if?!"  So I wanted it to be super special for him.  Normal circumstances, this wouldn't have been the case

I work from home, and start my day early but normally I just go in the office and sit tight. However, that morning after I tested positive I was running all over the house and putting together the test, a onesie I had bought, and some baby shoes for DH to open when he woke up. I figured he realized something was up because I was galloping around the house. I told him he had an early Xmas present to open, and he didn't realize until he saw the test. I am glad I told him in the AM because he was so sleepy and out of it he didn't see the insane creepy smile on my face or notice what a weirdo I was being!

H was on a biz trip when I tested, it was the weekend before Christmas. I had a feeling and just needed to know. He came home on Monday and I told him I had a Christmas present that I thought he might want before we went to Christmas Eve at our family's house. I put a candle in the bottom to weight it down and wrapped it in tissue paper. He was totally shocked. In his words he "thought it would take longer". I took a video, which is a priceless memory. Here is a screenshot of his face.

First time I made an Amazon wish list with a onsie and a couple of parenting books. Called him at work and asked him to take a look at the list and to please order what was on it. He loves Amazon so it worked well!

This time I peed on a stick and made him come look at it because the line was so faint. Nothing special.

Walked downstairs said I need to tell you something and handed him the pregnancy test. Did that both times. The first time I was in a towel the second time I got dressed first.

I also did the whole double checking the faint line with him before I went to bed. I told him first and then I back tracked and was like "well you look and see if there is a line". He said he saw one, so before I went to bed I said I would try again with my first morning urine.

Ok so this thread has totally gotten me .. Thank you!! And pregnancy hormones! Im not usually a crier! 

Anyway our story ... We were not really trying November and December because of a planned trip already in July of 2014. I didn't feel like I was pregnant, but 3 people said something baby related towards me one day. I decided to take a test not thinking anything of it. Was positive. Got a digital test which confirmed 1-2 week pregnant. I was so shocked I knew hubby wouldn't believe me.

Well it just so happened to be my husbands 30th birthday when I got the BFP and since his birthday is 1 week before Christmas we were playing 12 days of Christmas for his combined birthday/Christmas present. Everyday he got an envelope with a clue as to what his present was. So instead of his actual clue I printed out a picture of a stork and put it in an envelope. He opened it and was confused. He said "a delivery?" I told him kinda and showed him the digital test and he then figured it out and said "this is the best birthday present ever!!" Then we (and by that I mean I) cried and hugged and went for pizza :-)

I tested on my birthday. It was before I missed my period. I had a miscarriage in Sept and it was our first month trying since. I had been using OPKs for like 20 days with no positive. So I just decided to take a pregnancy test just in case. I tested before DH got up. So this was how it went down:

DH: Happy Birthday to you, (he sang the whole song). How does it feel to be your birthday?
Me: Good, hey come and look here.
DH looks at stick: Hmmm. That's really faint. I'd wait another day.

So I took another test the next day and a digital. The line was more clear and the digital was positive. Then DH asked if that was my best birthday present ever. Yep!

I had a D&C about 6 weeks earlier so I was in shock. I called him and said "you're never going to believe this, I'm pregnant.... Again....." Lol

My story kind of sucks.  I always pictured doing something cute like a present or something creative, but that wasn't in the cards.  

We thought we were out.  I had been spotting like usual before a period all weekend and, then on Sunday, it was so bad that I thought my period actually started.  We were at a crossroad with our fertility treatment (one more round of IUI or proceed to IVF) and we even called the only friend that had been in similar shoes that Sunday night for some advice.  On Monday, the flow was light (again normal for me) so I called to set up my first monitoring appointment for another IUI round.

Well, around midday, I noticed "my period" stopped completely.  I told the hubs and he said I needed to test to be sure we were out.  I tested as soon as I got home and got a positive right away.  Hubs works from home, but was out walking the dogs. Waiting for him to get back was probably the longest wait of my life.  As soon as he walked through the door, I told him and we did all that lovey dovey hugging/kissing/half cry stuff.

What cute stories!! I feel so lame. I got a box with 3 tests because we had decided to finally pull the goalie and I was a couple of days late. I did not expect to be pregnant at all, I just wanted to double check because we had several parties to attend that weekend. 

We had people over for my DH 30th birthday and I decided mid evening, why not just take it now? I would get the negative and keep the party going... When the pink lines came up I started chugging water and panicking (in a good way). I wanted to kick everyone out and jump on DH, but I had to wait 4 hours until everyone finally left. We were laying in bed and he was half asleep when I poked him and said, I've got a last minute present for you. I escorted him to the bathroom and showed him the stick that I had thrown in a drawer. He made me pee on the other two sticks to make sure. Not the most beautiful story, but it was a surprising Bday present!

I had tested on Wednesday and it was negative.  I tested again on Friday because I had a girl's night to go to that involved drinking.  I went to the bathroom, peed on the stick and put it on the back of the toilet.  DH set the timer and I laid back in bed for 3 minutes.  When the beep went off I didn't want to see another negative so I told him to go check it.  He came out of the bathroom and said 'A line is a line, right?'  I said something along the lines of, "No, shit" and jumped out of bed.  I didn't believe it for like 3 days and 3 more tests.  He was super excited and happy and I was in shock.

I'd taken a test my period was due but it was a cheap test and was inconclusive (both lines were faintly visible before taking it & I could still see the 'positive' line after so I tossed it out).
I tried again 3 days later, bright & early Monday morning. I was awake the while time my husband was getting ready for work. When I finally decided to try again I peeked outside and saw he had a ton of snow to shovel from the plows going by and had to wipe off his car.
I took the test, then booked it downstairs and began flickering the lights outside repeatedly. He came in right away and I simply showed him the test with the other hand over my mouth. He just kept smiling and repeating 'baby...' (in reference to me, not the actual baby lol) and then suddenly the smile was gone.
"...That was fast."

MH and I had been trying for over a year and had been at an RE for a few months. I was on my 5th round of Clomid and knew if this cycle didn't work we would have to move on to other options, so i was really praying for this time to work.

I had gone in for my progesterone check and they confirmed a nice ovulation, so they scheduled me for a Beta a week later on Friday 12/6. I told myself no pee sticks, that i was going to just wait for the blood work, and i stuck to it.

The nurse called me at 1 that afternoon to confirm! I was literaly balling on the phone. Waited until I got home from work at 6 and gave my husband a bag with a 3mo Tom Brady jersey in it (die hard New England sports fans) and said I got you an early Christmas present and he opened it and was line "no way, you're pregnant?!?" then jumped up and hugged me... it was sweet

I said "Good thing we brought that Big Brother shirt to Texas with us, just in case!".  We were in Houston visiting the IL's for Thanksgiving and brought along the Big Brother shirt I brought DS since I knew I'd be testing there.

His reaction was "Yay!" and then "Wow, already?" since he'd been home from deployment for less than a month.

I love all of your stories!! Ours isn't all that cute. I took a test, and it was pretty faint, went and told DH who was just waking up and he really didn't believe me, then I ran across the street to my SILs house and asked her what she sees, and she said, "yup, you're pregnant." I was so excited that I took 10 more tests over the next couple of days to make sure. :-)

I never left mine. I actually shut myself up in the bathroom with it. Lol.

Dd#1bought him " my boys can swim" and "pregnancy sucks for men" with a card for his bday that said we were expecting DD#2 I pos and made him tell me what it said. He told me "your eggo is preggo, your doodle can't be undid home skillet." DC#3 I put an event in our shared calendar "surprise! Baby b due today" on the due date. I knew it would pop up on his phone and surprise him lol!

Mine was also not super exciting. He knew I was planning on testing and lay in bed waiting to hear my reaction from down the hall in the bathroom. I came through and showed him - we celebrated and then sat there in total shock. He didn't believe me for a few days and wanted me to go in to the doctor to confirm, but once I explained how these things work he got used to it and started letting it sink in!

Hubby came home from work, sat down at the kitchen table to take his boots off and I just blurted out, "oh good you're sitting down. I'm pregnant."

He was surprised because I had my fertility screening scheduled later that week (I took clomid to get pregnant with DS).

So, being the romantic couple that we are, I shoved a squinter pee stick in his face and asked "do you think it's positive?" He said "Yes... wait, is there supposed to be one line or two?" Basically he was only looking at the control line. It wasn't until I took a test with words on it that I had him fully convinced.

With DS, I got pregnant right after a miscarriage (and that time I got pregnant on birth control) and after showing him the positive test (again, super romantic) DH's reaction was "do I have super sperm or something?" This time we tried for a bit so I guess that dispels the super sperm theory, ha.

I took some of dd's blocks and spelled out big sister on her changing table. When dh got home from work I handed him dd and told him to go change her stinky butt. He was super excited about the news along with the no stinky diaper for him to change.

i wisely decided to POAS right before work.  so i was there, tired, 5:30 am, before a 12 hour shift, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes while sitting on the toilet, and i sort of glanced at it sitting on the bathtub rim, then looked away.  it was completely a double take situation, then i cursed myself for not waiting until i didn't work. I tried to get ready, but in the middle had to pee on three more, then go poke at my hubby, whispering, "hey, hey look at this, hey come here you have to see this thing," trying not to freak out.  Suffice it to say, i did freak out, and he had to make me my lunch while i washed my face. 

later on break i called him freaking out and he says, "oh, you mean you actually are pregnant? holy shit."  

we are so romantic.
