Maternity belts? And update

I had my GTT this morning, so FX that comes back ok. Everything else is looking good, measuring 25 weeks at 25 weeks, so spot on!
I talked to the NP about my pain. Basically, she said that sometimes pregnant women's pelvis separate. And it hurts. So yeah. She suggested Tylenol, taking it easy, and looking into a maternity support belt. Anyone used one?
She also suggested massages. I will be notifying MH of this one!

I had a friend with this and she sat on a yoga ball instead of a chair at work and she was told not to pick up her toddler, if she could help it

Sorry to hear that you're still in pain, but great that all looked well on the u/s.

Never used one. My doc suggested it as well but seriously at this point..I doubt I could fit another sliver of clothing under my already ever so tight maternity clothes.

@ducky719 YES! I think the yoga ball saved my life. I've replaced it at home as the only place I sit. Doing pelvic tilts and rocks and pelvic floor exercises all evening. And cat and cow of course. I can't use it at work though. That would be ideal. But it's helping. Thanks!

What does the ball do exactly?? Help with lower back specifically?

SPD is miserable. Sorry, maybe you were hoping for a more upbeat outlook? I'm clenching my bum just thinking about the pain.  X_X

I did get a maternity belt, just a minor one though (have you googled them? If not, you'll be in for a laugh.. or a cry…) I wore mine to work (I was a teacher, so on my feet all day). I am not sure if it helped but I will say after I started wearing it the pain never got any worse (this was around 22 weeks).

Ditto icing, a frozen bag of corn or peas was the perfect thing to lay on the area because it was softer than ice.

It was most painful for me going down stairs and anytime I tried to shift in bed. Ouch!!

I LOVED my pregnancy belt. It saved me from mid 2nd tri to 31 weeks when I dropped and couldn't wear it anymore. I bought ones at Motherhood and BRU (they are the same, just different colors). It has three pieces: one in the back, one for under the belly, and one thin strap for over the tummy (I never used the third strap). It's not the best to use on bare skin (I wore a slip and put a tank over it), but it was the only one strong enough for my belly. My OB wanted all twin moms to get the prenatal cradle, but there was no way I was wearing the suspenders!

Like I said, it caused more pain when I dropped, but I found I could hardly walk without it. Hope it helps!

I started to have significant pain at about 20 weeks with the twins, and as one would expect, it only got worse. The problem with the maternity support belts that I tried was that they were pretty comfortable (at least relatively speaking) standing up, but they really pressed on some things that should not be pressed on as soon as I sat down. Good luck finding something that works for you!

@mcgeeva I don't know what it does, but it's magical. I used it a lot with E for hip and lower back and sciatic pain. It's also much easier to do pelvic exercises and stretches on the ball than on the floor.

@pennylane26 No kidding on rolling over in bed! Yikes that is painful!! Ditto getting in and out of the car. Or bed. Or standing on one leg to shave or put on socks.

Thanks @ruthie04. That's a lot of really helpful information. Deuce is already super low. I wonder if I can try one on before purchasing? Like @kbeach82 I'm concerned about it being really uncomfortable while sitting, which I spend most of my work day doing.

I carried really high, so it wasn't a huge issue for me. But, I definitely understand the issue with sitting. I had to sit with my legs wide open, which was the eventual reason I had to stop driving. I couldn't fit behind the wheel with my belly and wide legs! My belt was one of the larger ones, but they do make small, more flexible ones. I vaguely remember a friend of mine getting one after trying on different types at motherhood. They might be able to help you out. I will say- that belt changed my pregnancy. I was SO much more comfortable after wearing that thing!

Hm..guess im too far along to bother now. But now I know they work! I am tempted to bring a ball into work at my desk. That sounds amazing right about now

@mcgeeva I highly recommend the ball. Do it! You won't believe how much it helps.

I didn't read all of the other comments, but I had SPD this last time and it was horrible.  Get in to see a chiropractor that deals with this and get a Serola Belt.  Prenatal massages saved me too.

I used two different belts one for exercise and one everywhere else. One supported my si joint and the other my backs and stomach. It worked very well. Then after birth I used the si one again and another band.
I also went to women's pt once a week throughout pg it helped a ton.
