Toddler dry scalp

My DD who will be 3 in May suddenly seems to have developed a dry scalp. It started out only being flaky in one spot and now I often notice her scratching her head and she is getting scabs on her scalp from it. I only wash her hair 2-3 times a week and have been using a 2 in 1 kids shampoo. Im thinking of switching to a separate shampoo and conditioner but not sure what would be good for her dry itchy scalp. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help her dry scalp?

    No it doesnt look like that. There are just a few random scabs I think from her scratching it that are small and red similar to if a cut healed. Do I just melt the coconut oil and apply it all over her scalp? How long do I leave it on? Then shampoo it out?

    DS1 started getting dandruff and dry scalp around 2.5 and we switched to California Baby tea tree. It works great.
