My best friend from high school was due 1/31. Her water broke this morning at 3am, they told her to come in once contractions got worse or 6 hours has passed. 6 hours later they go to the hospital-still no contractions. They finally started her on pitocin a few hours ago, and now I haven't heard a thing. Thankfully I didn't need pitocin but you hear all these horror stories about how awful the contractions are. I just hope that she's hanging in there...and I just can't help but feel bad for the pain she is about to feel or might be in at this very moment!! Even though you have no idea who she is, send her some positive thoughts thanks!

My water broke and I was having no contractions. Dd was breech so I just had to wait for a c-section. I was kinda relieved because I've heard horror stories from my friends who've been induced with pitocin. Good baby juju her way!

If you do hear from her tell her there is no shame in an epi! (Not sure what her plans were re: meds). I got mine at 4 cm on pit and to be honest I waited too long. I was in agony by the time I got it.

Once I had the epi life was good, very good

I had the same thing happen. I wanted to wait as long as possible before getting the epidural. That point came pretty quickly after the pitocin contractions started! Hopefully her plan wasn't all natural...

Ugh that happened to me! Water broke 7:30pm, no contractions so the next morning I went to the hospital to be induced. I really wanted a med-free birth but after 12 hours of hard contractions (pitocin is the devil!) I hadn't progressed at all and got an epi. If I ever have to be induced again I will request an epidural as I'm walking in the door! Good luck to your friend!

I think they should just give you an epi when they start pit as protocol. I made it to 8cm but I was crawling out of my skin. Sitting still for the epidural was SO HARD, I sweat all over my poor nurse.

Yep same here. I made it to a
5 before an epi (6 hours on pit) and got all the way dilated but still had a c-sect. I didn't have non pitocin contractions so I can't compare it.

Well he finally arrived! She gave birth to s healthy baby boy, Cooper Scott at 9:54 last night. 7 lbs 15 oz and 20" long. I can't wait to hear all the details of how it went down. All I know for now is that mom is super exhausted but both mom and baby are doing well! Thanks for all your positive thoughts!
