Help- Low Supply

Hi all,
So my LO is 9 months and I got hit hard with the stomach bug last week. Ever since then, my supply has diminished. I started to take More Milk Plus and while it helped, my supply is no where near back to normal. Any other tips/tricks on getting my supply back. I really want to continue bfeeding up until he is 1 and even past that if possible.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Help- Low Supply

  • Get a double electric pump if you don't already have one, pump after each feeding for a while, even if very little comes out, pump for a full 10-15 minutes. Do that for a couple of days (or at least during the daytime feedings and skip the pump at night) and that should help. You should see a difference in a few days.

  • I pumped for 30 minutes after each feed for two weeks (around the clock). I fed DS the pumped milk via a bottle about 3 times a day - whatever i pumped so far that day (we use dr brown with premie nipple). I noticed a difference, but it took a while (a week?) to see it working.

  • I got sick when LO was around 10 months and my supply tanked hardcore.  Once i started eating again, my supply returned to normal after a few days.  I found that drinking a ton of gatorade helped too.
  • I had surgery and even though i kept BFing my supply to a big hit. What worked for me was Mother's milk tea and pumping more frequently (like 2 hrs instead of 3). And eating more, especially full fat dairy and carbs, and making sure to drink a lot of water. Good luck!
