Is it for the baby to sleep at night? I never had a Moses basket. I think you would want something higher off the floor as LO's main sleeping place so you don't have to bend over as much. Also it's nice to be able to access the baby without getting out of bed if you're going to be room sharing.

A Moses basket is safe to use as a sleeper. You may already be planning this, but I'd definitely recommend buying a stand for it. Something like this maybe. They're pretty readily available.

We've been looking at doing a moses basket with a stand as well. I keep going back and forth though, as they're fairly expensive for the short amount of time they'll actually be using it.
