Puffy eyelid

So DS1 woke up this morning for school and one of his eyelids is slightly red and puffy. My first thought was a stye, but I read online that it would be slightly painful. He says it doesn't hurt or anything. There's barely any discharge out of his eye either. I have no idea what it could be!

This happens to my stepson when his allergies kick in. He just always says his eyes feel itchy though.
Also this happens to my husband after really windy days. It's better after a day.

I don't think so. He's gotten pink eye enough that I know his symptoms. I got some of the stye ointment as a just in case and I'll see how his eye looks when he gets home from school. 

@ChrisG83 Is your stepson's eyelid red along the eyelash line?

It can get red if he rubs it. It may just be a random little infection. It happens to my husband a lot. Things floating around in the air and attach to his eye. His prone to that kind if stuff
