DISNEY @ 7 months pregnant?

Hello, Before we got pregnant we were talking about going down to DIsney World in August (never been in August but have a PIN that will give us 35% off in August). I'm 5 weeks pg now and figure I'll be about 7 months pg in August (does that sound right?)...Anyone ever brave the sweltering FL heat in August while 7 months pregnant walking around the Disney parks 6-8 hours a day?? Just feel bad because we had already mentioned the possible trip to our 7 and 11 year old....oh, btw, I don't fly so we'd either drive down or take Amtrak (from MA) ...too crazy or kinda doable?

This is too funny you posted this. I am going to Disney in July, I'll be 28 weeks, so 7th month, you'll be more like 32ish. I am from MA too, but will be flying down. We already bought the plane tickets and bought the vacation package to stay at the wilderness lodge. It'll be just me, my son and mother. DH is staying behind, he is not a disney fan. I plan to take it easy and keep cool lol and take advantage of a/c'ed places and the baby care centers....they like pregnant women even if you don't have a little one!

As far as the heat I have been to disney a few times in August, it is HOT. As I am sure July will be as well. We booked our trip before I got pregnant, even though I was trying it had been 5 months of trying after my miscarriage and I didn't want to keep postponing my trip just in case I got pregnant so I just booked it lol

Thanks for the input. Funny you're from MA too :) hmm, well, guess I should at least get to my first OB appt. before making any decisions. I don't want to wait too long before booking...so hard to try to predict what kind of pg this will be and if I'll be in any condition to walk in the heat...thanks again.

I use to travel to Florida each year during August and it is very HOT. And that is not while pregnant.

Not been to Disney, but have lived in similar areas in August for most of my life. I know it's a cliché, but it's not just the heat, it's the humidity. It is absolutely strangling, like wrapping a flannel blanket dipped in warm water around your face. If you go (I would not, in fact, I don't know that I could be paid to do so), make sure you stay super hydrated. I'd worry about backaches and such in a car or train as well.

I'll be going to Silver Dollar City the first week in August. It's in Missouri, it will be hot and very hilly. I will just take it easy. We will be staying for a week and have season passes so we may just wait and go in the evenings.

We were there in July and I was not pregnant, but I was miserable. I don't mind being cold, but when I get hot I can get pretty irritable and poor DH remembers Epcot well. It was 96 and I had a headache. I can't imagine going pregnant, but I would say as long as you are okay with being hot you will be okay. There are several areas to cool off and once you get into the waiting lines that are inside there is a/c. I just was irritable, especially when you have line cutters and have to wait even longer in the heat.

I was there in August - it was miserable and I wasn't pregnant! I wouldn't recommend it unless you stay inside and get spa treatments. :)

I don't think anyone has touched on the fact that you are going to drive or take the train there, from MA. That's a really long car trip/train trip at 32 weeks. It just seems like it would be setting yourself up for a potentially miserable trip. Plusalso, have you ever been to Florida in July or August? It's pretty awful, weather wise. I don't mean to be a womp-womp, but I'd maybe schedule it earlier in your PG or after LO is born.

A friend lived near disney and went with her 5 year old while she was 8 months pregnant in August. She said it was extremely hot but she stayed hydrated, rested when she needed, and bought one of those misting fans.

Make sure you are drinking a lot of water, rest often and cool off regularl

This! We live in Texas and summer's are always hot and humid. I would never want to go anywhere like that at 32 weeks. My DS1 was also an early fall baby and in Aug I hated even walking from the car to the store. If you're not used to that kind of heat you're going to be even more miserable.

If you do decide to go, I'd take a car so that you can stop to walk around often. Also you'll need to rest often and stay hydrated.

I'm a big baby when it's humid out and I wouldn't want to go to Florida in August regardless of being pregnant. I think you said you'd only be 32 weeks, but that's a log way from home so late in pregnancy. I would be much too nervous.

I haven't read the other responses yet, but personally for me, I would say HELL no. It will be very hot in Florida in August...that's enough reason for me to turn it down. With DD, I had swollen feet and hands by 7 months so I couldn't go to multiple stores in the same day, let alone an amusement park.

Personally, I would postpone the trip.  I can't imagine it being fun considering the heat and the walking involved.

If you decide to go ahead with it, make sure you purchase trip insurance so that you can safely cancel if something changes in your pregnancy and your doctor does not want you to travel.

I'm worried about how hot and uncomfortable a local concert in August is going to be for me in NJ , so the idea of driving down, walking, sweating, having to pee constantly, dealing with crowds and trying to make sure your little one has fun while being so far from home would make me choose a "stay-cation" now and save Disney for later.

I didn't go to Disney land but I went to Branson to silver dollar city at 7 months. I had a good time but I was hurting and miserable. The heat alone was awful and my pelvic pain was terrible walking so long

Totally not judging and I'm not trying to to scare you, but there's a lot of time between now and then... What if you developed a complication and weren't able to go? Could you reschedule without losing money?

Disney is just SO expensive and VERY hard on your body... Lots of walking and eating out. Traveling is also hard on your circulation,

Aside from comfort, you might want to talk to your OB before putting cash towards a trip.

Also, coming from a been there done that perspective, it is scary to have to find good prenatal care hours from home if God forbid something did happen, especially late in pregnancy.
