Fever and leg pain??

My son is 3 and he was sick about a month ago. During that time, he did have a fever and constantly complained about his legs hurting. MH and I figured it was growing pains. Once he was better, he never heard him complain about his leg pains again.
The other day, he had a low grade fever and woke up from his nap screaming in pain from his legs again. He didn't even want to walk. Well, his fever broke instantly without meds (I tried and I could not get him to take it) and he sat for a while. He told me he legs didn't hurt anymore and he started jumping. I'm going to call the pedi, but I waned to know if anyone experienced this. He seems to only complain about his legs when he has a fever. It might just be a coincidence??
