Re: Weekly Check-in February 3
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with?
Foster to Adopt
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent!
We go to first aid and CPR training this week. We got news last week that the agency is offering a special 3 week training course instead of the usual 6 week course in March. This means we may have everything completed and approved by the end of April - eek
3.) AR - QOTW - How long did it take you to select an agency?
About a month. We went to the county and were told they weren't accepting applications. There was 1 private agency we were interested in, we really wanted a secular organization, so that made our choice easy.
4) Are you happy/unhappy or indifferent with the outcome of the Superbowl?
Over-joyed. As a former Seattle resident I loved the game.
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with? DIA.
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent! We have our son home. He turned 6mo last week. We sent a very pleasant email to the agency director because we had no info about finalization and miraculously she called us back saying that the paper we were waiting for was at their office and within hours was headed to their lawyer and our lawyer and they sent to us a promissory note for an unpaid medical bill we'd been asking for for weeks. (it's unpaid because our son's birth parent hasn't sent it to them even though he told them about it)
3.) AR-QOTW - How long did it take you to choose an agency? Probably a few weeks before we really signed- we had researched adoption extensively about 10 years ago and nothing really had changed in terms of the agnecies we were looking at. So I did another quick look around and then signed with the agency I knew worked with families like ours.
4) Are you happy/unhappy or indifferent with the outcome of the Superbowl. Happy.
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with?
DIA
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent!
Waiting for reference forms to be sent out, then received back. Waiting is the worst!
3.) AR-QOTW - How long did it take you to choose an agency?
We had originally gotten going through the government, and were working over a year with them before deciding that things weren't working out at all. There is only one private agency in our area, so there wasn't any difficult choice to make.
4) Are you happy/unhappy or indifferent with the outcome of the Superbowl.
Meh.
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with? DIA
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent! BM due in May... it's been a long process as we were matched in October. We are heading to see her in a couple of weeks to spend a day or two with her. We seem to have a good relationship, but it's always stressful.
3.) AR-QOTW - How long did it take you to choose an agency? We used a private attorney. We also signed up with an agency, but matched with atty first.
4) Are you happy/unhappy or indifferent with the outcome of the Superbowl. Very unhappy :-(
1.) PAP doing DIA
2.) I finished our profile late last night and e-mailed it off to our SW this morning for her to look at. She said it looks great so we're heading to the printer this week to make the crazy amount of copies and writing out the 2nd biggest check for the process - exciting and nervous! Hopefully by the end of next week we'll be in the book and "officially waiting"!
3.) We started seriously talking about Adoption last January and we finally decided and applied to an agency in November. We signed up for a bunch of literature from all the agencies that operate in our area and went from there.
4) Indifferent. Didn't watch a single minute of it.
TTC # 1 Since October 2010 (Not preventing since 2009)
November 2013: Applied & Accepted by the Agency
January 2014: Home Study, education class, Profiles

1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with? Just starting foster to adopt
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent! Very beginning. No frustration yet. Orientation meeting this weekend!
3.) AR-QOTW - How long did it take you to choose an agency? Still deciding. Have folders upon folders of research. Have gone to a few meetings. One more this weekend and then I will make my decision. Right now leaning toward the state run agency.
4) Are you happy/unhappy or indifferent with the outcome of the Superbowl. Indifferent. Had the Gabby Douglas movie on and cleaned the house.
2) placed with our baby boy last Wednesday!
3) I did some online research, went to one info session, and chose the agency right after. This was a few months after we decided to adopt.
4) I'm indifferent!
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with? Adoptive Mom - DIA
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent! Our TPR hearing is less than two weeks away! I had to take LO for a DNA paternity test today which - blah - meant taking off another half day at work. It has been a rough two weeks with me going back to work and then everyone, LO included, getting either a cold or the flu and missing days during the week.
3.) AR-QOTW - How long did it take you to choose an agency? About a month. Our original choice of agency was full and we weren't willing to wait when there were openings at our current one.
4) Are you happy/unhappy or indifferent with the outcome of the Superbowl. I would have rather watched the Broncos win. As a Packers fan I still am not over the bad-call touchdown celebration the Seahawks got away with a few seasons ago

1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with? DIA
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs?
Set Back- We learned that even though we've been HS approved for a year, our profile has never been shown.
Accomplishment- Hopefully some positive changes are happening at our agency.
3.) AR-QOTW - How long did it take you to choose an agency?
About two months. We wanted a local agency so there were really only 2 to choose from.
4) Are you happy/unhappy or indifferent with the outcome of the Superbowl. I'm not a football person. We really just watched for the commercials. I LOVED the Cheerios Commercial- my favorite. Second Favorite was the Beats Audio one with Ellen.

3. We chose within a month or so.
4. My team wasn't in it so I didn't really care much about the outcome but watched anyway.
Rainbow Surprise Baby due 05/26/2017
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs?
We are blessed that we know our baby momma and baby daddy. We announced at Christmas that we were going to start the adoption process this year and buy a house. In January she came to us and asked if we wanted to adopt the baby. We have been nothing but overjoyed with the news.
We met with a lawyer and CPS last week and they all say a relative adoption will be easy for us to do. Since I am a teacher I know a lot of the CPS workers and they know me.
3.) AR-QOTW - How long did it take you to choose an agency?
For two weeks I have done nothing but research online the different ways we could approach the adoption. We contacted a lawyer to ask more questions and he suggested CPS.
4) Are you happy/unhappy or indifferent with the outcome of the Superbowl.
I am happy with our adoption process. Super Bowl who cares lol.
1.) How are you related to adoption/fostering and what type (DIA, IA, Foster to Adopt, etc) are you involved with?
adoptive mom DIA
2.) Where are you in the process? Any accomplishments or set backs? Feel free to vent!
Parental rights were terminated, and just waiting for our post placement reports and finalization in March.
3.) AR-QOTW - How long did it take you to choose an agency?
We didn't actually use an agency, we were approached by a mom and found an adoption attorney.
4) Are you happy/unhappy or indifferent with the outcome of the Superbowl.
Indifferent, although I wanted the Broncos to win because my mom is a super huge fan.
