Calling a billing office to make a payment (said office is part of a HUGE hospital system in VA)

blah blah blah blah blah blah...seems to be taking a LOONNNGG time..
"i'm sorry to keep you so long, my payment system is being retarded."

UHM.  Wow.  I didn't even know what to say, I'll be clear the R word doesn't generally get my panties in a huge bunch but I think that was HIGHLY disrespectful coming from medical staff!!!


DD1(4):VSD & PFO (Closed!), Prenatal stroke, Mild CP, Delayed pyloric opening/reflux, Brachycephaly & Plagiocephaly, Sacral lipoma, Tethered spinal cord, Compound heterozygous MTHFR, Neurogenic bladder, Urinary retention & dyssynergia, incomplete emptying, enlarged Bladder with Poor Muscle Tone, EDS-Type 3.     Geez, that was insensitive! Other words could be used. Not working, broken, has a virus,etc.

    Sorry you had to hear that word dealing with medical billing no less. I am still haunted by my early pregnancy days when my ex would say stuff about his kid probably being messed up because he made too many "short bus" jokes, etc. It's hard to just brush off those comments when people use them...especially in the medical field.

    My OB records from beginning pregnancy DD2 have "mental retardation" circled and a line ddrawn with "cerebral palsy?"
    When DD1 is cognitively advanced! That irked me.

    I would consider filing a complaint about that if it happened to me.

    I would also consider filing a complaint. That is never an ok word to use, like that, and especially someone who works in customer service.
