**UPDATE: If you had your gallbladder removed, come in....

UPDATE: Had an OB appt today so I brought up the pain. They do not think it is gallbladder/scar tissue from the was I described it. They think it could be my liver. They said they will keep an eye on my BP (which has always been fine, and was today too). They are skipping right over my three week appts and having me go every two weeks now.

I had mine removed when DS was 4 weeks old (2010). Before that, the only pain I experienced was when I was pregnant (pregnancy induced gallbladder failure), but my Dr wanted removed anyways.
Q: if you have had yours removed, are you having any pain? For the past few days I feel like my rib is broken (in the same area my gallbladder would be). Could it be from scar tissue?

I had my gallbladder taken out when I was 16. I was my doctors first gallbladder surgery lol. The docs told me that over the years I can experience what is called "phantom pain" your body still thinks the gallbladder is there and certain foods that would trigger attacks before could possibly trigger attacks again. Luckily I haven't had an attack in years (I'm 27 now) talk to your doctor about the pain, maybe it's the same as mine. Hope you feel better soon, pregnancy is hard enough, let alone pregnancy with gallbladder pain! Take care!

I had mine out four months after I had DS. The attacks I had were likely pregnancy-induced as well, as they literally started a month after I had him. Since having it out I haven't had the same pain, but I can recall maybe once or twice when I have had a similar pain in the same general area (upper-middle abdomen). Nothing consistent or worrisome to me. Sorry you are in pain! I hope it resolves itself soon.

It might also just be from everything stretching. I had some serious rib pain a few weeks ago, I seriously thought I popped one out, and it was just from the stretching. My midwife sent me for a massage and its been much better since.

I had mine out in April 2012. Mine still aches now & then. I hated the surgery.

I had mine out a few years ago. I would occasionally get the "phantom pain" still. Not very often though. Can you pinpoint it to after you eat any specific food? I remember how awful gallbladder pain is phantom or not. Hope you feel better.

Mine was also pregnancy induced and I had it taken out when my daughter was 5 months old. I haven't had any pain in the area since it was taken out, but I now get terrible heartburn. According to my doctor that's a lovely side effect of having it out. Its just getting worse and worse as this pregnancy goes on.

I had mine out when Asher was 5 weeks old.  I do get pain in that area and sometimes it is hard to figure out if it is gall stone issues or liver issues.  Either way, you can still get stones in your bile ducts that were left behind.  So yeah you could be experiencing that.

Could be stones I had mine removed when DS was 6wks old I have been having pain went to the dr some how I'm still making stones go me.

OH man, I didn't know you could still get stones. I have an OB apt tomorrow, so I will mention the pain. I was really hoping for more "yeap, it's probably scar tissue" replies, lol.

You're lucky you're not bile dumping. I've had nothing but GI problems since I had mine out.

For the first year, I couldn't eat anything remotely greasy without having to run to the bathroom after a bite or two. The specialist/surgeon told me I wouldn't have to change my diet at all. Lie. It wasn't until about a year ago, that I have been able to eat what ever I want. The pain I am feeling now, however, is worse than before I had my gallbladder removed. I think gallbladder removal may be a scam What exactly is bile dumping???....it make me think you have to go in and get your ducts cleaned/emptied???

The bitch of it is that I didn't even need mine out.  I was in liver failure.  But the pain is in the same place and ultrasound of my gallbladder showed stones and murkiness...probably related to pregnancy.  When I got sicker after my surgery, then they were like "oh sorry about that"  thanks jerks.  Basically bile dumping is bile just pouring into your stomach because you don't have a gall bladder.  Usually you make less bile when you have it removed, but some people don't.  And bile in your stomach makes it impossible not to have the runs no matter what you eat. I literally eat a banana which should bind you up and end up on the toilet.  It is awful

When I read that I heard a little Despicable Me minion say "wwhhhhatttt?" That is just crazy. Nothing like having an extra surgery for the heck of it. What ever happened with your liver?

I had atypical HELLP syndrome.

I had my gallbladder removed a month after DS was born, but had undiagnosed stones for the two years prior to pregnancy. So while it was not pregnancy related, my issues were intensified and diagnosed during my pregnancy.

I still experience "pain" at my incision site directly above where my gallbladder was located. I have a huge ball of scar tissue at that incision from being burnt with the cautery tool during surgery. You should have seen the wound after surgery... We called it my "bullet wound". It legit looked as if I was shot. My surgeon was really great... Pssshhhh. I do still get pain in that site, though, but I'm sure it isn't what yours is being caused from. I'm sorry this was no help at all...

And @ABColeslaw - I've never heard about the excess bile being dumped into the stomach. I REALLY need to check this out. I had mine removed August of 2012 and I still have extreme issues...

Yep! Had mine removed in 2007 and had phantom pains as well. Don't really have the pains anymore. Perhaps if you give it time they will subside but if they're too uncomfortable get them checked.

Im quite curious.. im 26 weeks and dealing with gallstones attacks still..I could have had the surgery weeks ago, but I have a one year old to take care of and didnt wanna put baby #2 in any distress either or be off my feet but im still miserable even afte a diet change...my question is im wondering is the surgery really all that bad? Explain these phantom pains to me pleaseee

I have to be honest......I have heard more people complain of problems after their surgery than I have heard people say they feel better. I commented earlier, and always joke to my husband that I think the surgery is a scam
