My 1st Fert Report **Update w/Day3 Report**

Hey ladies! I had my first egg retrieval yesterday and I think it went pretty well. They retrieved 12 eggs even though I only had 5 dominant follies on trigger day, which I had been pretty nervous about. The clinic just called with our day 1 fert report - out of 12 eggs, 9 fertilized normally (without ICSI)! The nurse said that everything looked great. I can't believe we have 9 little embryos growing right now. We'll get our next call with instructions for a 3 day or 5 day transfer on Tuesday morning. I'm just going to be hoping and praying and keeping my fingers crossed until then!

Update: Day 3 report is in! Everything looks good so we're going to try for a Day 5 transfer. I didn't get any details, but the nurse said that in order for them to consider a day 5 transfer you must have at least 5 grade 1-2 (6-8 cell) embryos. So we have anywhere from 5 to 9 embryos still going strong today! I'm so relieved and I'm praying that they keep up the good work!

That's amazing! When you say 5 lead follicles do you mean they were only measuring 5? I'm currently in this situation so your fert report gives me a shimmer of hope

@sorrellam30: No, I had 16 measurable follies (16 was also my AFC). The morning of my trigger, I had 5 lead follicles and the nurse told me that they classify anything between 16-20 mm as a lead or dominant follie. Between trigger and ER, the others may or may not catch up and obviously for me a few of those did.

I'm sorry that you're feeling worried about your progress. It is possible that some of the smaller will make some jumps. Even if they don't, when I was feeling nervous a bunch of the ladies here (and my doctor) all reminded me that quality is much more important than quantity. It helped me to keep repeating that between trigger day and ER.
