Experiences with MyRegistry?

Has anyone used this before? I remember purchasing off of one for a baby shower a few years ago and thought it was a little confusing.  But it seems like I am going to want stuff from lots of different stores so I thought this might be the best solution. But I guess I won't be able to get completion coupons, or should you still create registries at the individual stores?  Wonder if that would get confusing? Any experiences or tips for using it?  I signed up and I'm checking it out now.
Thanks!

Re: Experiences with MyRegistry?

  • I'd just register at different places. I mean, how many are we talking about? I did BBB and then Amazon for anything I couldn't find at BBB. Worked out well

Just screwing around and I've got stuff from 3 different places on there already.  Maybe I will just use it as my personal own shopping list and register at the two places where I have the most stuff.  I do like the pinteresty aspect to it.

There's no completion coupon with myregistry. I think registering at 3 different stores is fine, especially if the people who will buy gifts for you are from different places geographically. I will be registering at 3 places beaver our families are spread out and don't have access to the same stores.

  • i just purchased some bridal shower gifts though it and found it EXTREMELY annoying because:

-they make you mark whether or not you purchase an item you were looking at
-and if you didn't get it, you have to mark why
-the registrants get emails saying what they'll receive and from whom the moment it's purchased

the website is not gift-giver user friendly
i told my friend i hated her registry site

  • I had three maybe four 'registries' some were public others were private. As an example we did a pottery barn kids registry so we could get an extra 10% off. No one else knew about it, we also had a cloth diaper registry for items we needed, no one knew about that. Then we had two public registries, BRU for people who wanted to shop in person and amazon for every thing else.

  • I had it. Didn't get any completion discount as others said & people had trouble accessing it. I moved on from it amyway prior to the babys birth & have not looked back.

  • Ditto- I would use Amazon if you want more of an 'all in one' approach. I used Amazon and it worked really well. Most items you can find on their site and ones you can't, that are very specific to say, Pottery Barn, you can actually add to your list with a link and people can then go directly to the site to purchase from.
  • I recommend using babyli.st     It's a great universal registry.  I loved using it.  (I also registered a BRU so I could easily return things I didn't want to keep or got double on)

I didn't know you could do that with Amazon!  Thanks for the info @elsthompson
