@bandteacher‌ that sucks!!!! I loved band and orchestra!!! And think both are important. General music blows!!
Just had two month appt. doc gave the two shots at one time in one leg and then immediately rumpled and played with the paper on the table to distract her as I held her. It totally worked and she forgot about the shot site. She's sleeping peacefully now. Just wanted to share!!
Hopefully it stats that way! The pain usually comes later!
Robert has his appointment tomorrow.  Would it be wise to give him tylenol after the shots regardless of his mood as a preventative?  Or is it better to wait to see how he feels?

  •  @SomersIsles‌ congrats on the job! @bandteacher‌ I'm sorry they're changing your position. My mom's district is slowly eliminating all of its teachers with 15+ years of experience and didn't re-up her contract for next year. She teaches family & consumer sciences and hasn't found another position yet, so she might be changing fields altogether. Sucks. :(
    Thanks!
And in regards to what the school district is doing... is that even legal??  Isn't that age discrimination or something??
  • @bandteacher‌ Sorry about your job.

My friends want us to go to dinner Saturday night for one of their birthdays. I don't want to leave Isla. Then my SIL said no, and their son is 6 months so I feel better about saying no now.

  • Also, does anyone have maternity leave/STD through Aflac or a similar company?

At my old job maternity leave was 12 weeks, and luckily I was able to negotiate that with my new job when they hired me in November. But their policy is 6 weeks. If I'm still there when I get pregnant again (although I seriously hope not and that I get a new job soon), that is not long enough. I was considering getting it on my own but was curious how costly it is.

  • I'm sorry @bandteacher‌ about your job situation!! That's really awful.

I am about to become a ward of the state and am super excited. Don't be jealous that I'm getting WIC for formula. What what. If I hashtagged I would say - #perksofspecialneeds

    Congrats :)

We used to live there.  Omaha has the best zoo I have ever seen! :)

  • @SomersIsles‌ it's totally age discrimination, but so far they're hiding it well enough that attorneys can't find cause for a lawsuit. Basically, they're finding something "wrong" during each teacher's evals and then canning them for it (which is totally NOT the normal course of action).

  •  @TX08Aggie‌ You were an Aggie living in NE?? That must have been rough lol. Go Huskers!
It wasn't bad - I lived there when I was a kid and hadn't yet heard of Aggieland.  Now it would be rough!  I'd fly an A&M flag proudly ;)

Might have converted to Texans if they had picked up Johnny Football ;)  But, we are Cowboys fans.

We made it and the kids were awesome!

I was thinking of you today and wondering how things went! We're in the middle of a 9 day vacation with the 3 kids and it's been an adventure but they're doing really well.

  • **Emotional subject with loss mentioned**

I don't remember who it was (for some reason I thought it was @WisconsinCheese12‌) that mentioned the movie Return to Zero on Lifetime. I hadn't heard of it but went and DVRed it. I'm just watching it now....holy sh*t!!! Cue massive emotions and lots of tight baby snuggles!

It really hits too close to home too...my mom was pregnant with about 2 weeks until her due date and she felt something was wrong. Sure enough...she lost the baby and still had to deliver it. Not a day goes by that I don't think about what it would be like to have him around!!! ;(

  • Also @WisconsinCheese12‌ no one would argue with you that you did the right thing by taking that poor fur baby in. I can understand how you got pissed when you got the response asking if you were joking. But like everyone said, it's because no one knew the back story. Regardless of this, that limearita sounds super refreshing and you should treat yo'self

  • I vaguely remember @wisconsincheese12 mentioning this cat issue with her neighbor before.  And, I'm pretty sure she put up the pictures because she felt so sad about the kitty.  I swear I've read/seen it before.  Perhaps she just thought people would remember without rehashing all the awful details.
  • @bennieangel‌ I have the Paraguard and I LOVE it. I like being hormone free, and weirdly I do prefer to get my period monthly. I find it reassuring to know that everything is still working. Also it lasts for at least ten years, but fertility returns pretty much instantly whenever it's taken out.

I had one pre-baby, and I just got my new one in today!
