Issues w/ AF (might be TMI for some)

So I've been on LoEstrin Fe since 3 months PP and for the first few months I had no sight of AF, not even spotting.  Then in September I had spotting for 2 days, which was what my OB said I could expect on this pill.  Then since October I've had full-fledged I might as well not even be on the pill AFs.  This month in particular: I started spotting last Friday which lasted through Sunday then bleeding requiring more than just a panty liner from Monday-Wednesday, then spotting as if it was ending yesterday and now full fledged bleeding again.  This is ridiculous!  Every time I've been on the pill before I've had very short 2-3 day mini periods each month.  I also wouldn't ever get cramps and since October I've had cramps for the full week I'm bleeding each month.

I'm going to make an appointment with my OB to talk about other pills.  I don't think the IUD is a good option for me since I want to get pregnant sometime next year (2015).  Anyone on a different pill and like it?  Am I just doomed because my body is different post-pregnancy??

  • Yup! Haha....I pretty much need a blood transfusion after AF comes to town. Never had so much blood loss before :(

  • Are you on the pill?  I'm really hoping another kind will help.  I'm going to request Seasonale.
  • Pre pregnancy I had such horrible monster periods that required me to be on birth control just in order to survive. I tried every kind of pill possible, they would work for a while but then I'd have breakthrough bleeding because I actually have a 35 day cycle but pills force you to do 28. Then I used NuvaRing for about 5 years. It gave me short, light periods that were perfect, not even a single cramp and I only had to use light tampons most of the time. It is also effective for 4 full weeks, so I could use it with my natural cycle and not fight against it. And after 5 years of constant use, I got KU on the first cycle after stopping the NuvaRing. I'd say definitely check it out!

  • It's because of issues you're describing that I and someone else I know quit the pill completely.  I actually tried three different pills with no luck.  Between breakthrough, cycles, and who knows what other reason, I was left scared to put on anything I cared for and intimacy was surely out the door.  If you know what I mean, you know what I mean by the most discouraging thing you've been through.  I think that you're not really suppose to be doing the whole pill thing after venturing down your 30's anyway. . not sure but there is so much different for this generation.
