Trying to Get Pregnant

Help with OPK

Ok, I'm reading conflicting info so if anyone has advice, please share? The directions that came with my OPK said use first urine of the day, but other sources I've read say to wait and test between 10am and 8pm. Also, test once a day or both am and pm?

Re: Help with OPK

  • Personally I tested twice a day, once with FMU and once in the early afternoon. Since I usually had a fade in pattern, if I saw my OPKs getting darker I would test in the evening sometimes. I used IC OPKs so testing multiple times a day didn't break the bank.

  • OP, I am new at this but I test with second morning urine and then again after work (at least 2 hours held) and if I'm feeling crazy I test again before bed as long as it's been two hours since I've gone.

@twinkie0612 What's IC? I have seen it multiple times and figured I'd ask. TIA

    PAIF/SAIF Welcome!

  • I test with SMU at about 7am and again in the afternoon around 4pm.  I have to limit water consuption for a couple hours before my afternoon test, though.

  • I test three times a day, with FMU, mid afternoon, and before bed. There have been months when I would have missed my surge if I hadn't tested with FMU. It may take a few months, but you'll figure out what times and frequency of testing works best for you.

  • Thanks @twinkie0612 & @Cantisa. I knew it was OPK related just couldn't crack it. :)

  • I drink a ton of water throughout the day, so I found it really hard to test during the day. For me, I never got anything close to a positive until I started using FMU. Also, the bathrooms at work make it awkward for me to pee, dip then wait 5 min. It was actually kind of stressful, so I decided to just use FMU and it's working pretty well for me. Just try a few different things and go with what works for you. Good Luck!
