Sorry, I know it's not unusual but I would hate that! When I called my old OB after I got a BFP with DS, they got me in that week and did a transvaginal US and I was only 4 weeks. This time I got in at 7 weeks.
My doc is doing the same thing. I get my first u/s my 11 week. That's good and bad: I'm nervous to see if there's an actual baby there, but its good to wait because u/s or not, if something terrible is going to happen it will, whether or not everything is ok right now. But it will be a long 4 weeks for me.
I'll be 11 wks 1 day at my first appointment with my midwife in March. It was that way time with my son too. They told me my first appointment could be between 8-12 wks, so I chose 11 wks because I like hearing the heartbeat at that first visit.

A lot of the OBs here were like that - wanting to see me at 12 weeks. I basically hunted until I found one willing to see me now at 9 weeks + check my urine + hormones. It sounds rough - but if you want to be seen by a doctor - then demand it. Peace of mind is a powerful thing....

Like PP have said, that is normal and not delayed! You should be grateful and feel lucky that you do not need to be seen earlier. Most -- and I say most not all -- people who have to be seen before that have a history of loss or other issues that require them to be seen.
I'll have a week 11 first ultrasound too. February 25th for me, and totally normal at my OB as a first time mom with no history.
I'm having a real hard time waiting, though, with others posting their heart rates, etc. I have an indescribable feeling that I'm... I don't know, not pregnant? I can't even work up the nerve to tell our families yet. This is much harder than the tww, for sure!
I had an appt at 7 weeks and I had to reschedule and now I have to wait until 11 weeks. Don't feel bad tho, my Dr won't do an ultra sound until 20 weeks. And only does one unless there is something wrong. He normally sees patients at 8 weeks to confirm then seperates appts by 4 weeks.
My first appt was at 7 wks. They won't do an u/s until 12 wks due to insurance companies etc. I don't know why because my insurance covers all u/s I think it's ridiculous. I pretty much demanded I wanted a u/s but the Dr told me there is no reason to have one till wk 12 since I am not high risk or anything like that. So feb 28th!! I'll be 12 wks and 2 days. Can't freakin wait!
With DD, I didn't have my first ultrasound until around 12 weeks. They do an intake appointment- medical history, bloodwork, and do an ultrasound around 12 weeks. So, not unusual, although I know the wait is terrible!
I had my intake appointment at the OB clinic at 8 weeks, and I have my first appointment with the nurse practitioner at 12 weeks. They will check the heartbeat, and do a Pap smear, and do the standard BP checks and a few other things.
I won't get an u/s until 20 weeks unless there are complications that warrant one.
