TTC after 35

high prolactin???? Anyone have this issue????

We recently found out that I have high prolactin levels which my OB and Endo feel is the cause of our trouble to conceive. I'm currently taking Bromcrinptin (I think that is how you spell it lol) and hopefully that will lower my prolactin levels and help us to conceive. I think I just had AF on 1-23 but not sure. It was light and only lasted a couple of days but then popped back up on Sat with some light spotting and then just disappeared on Sunday. Been feeling extremely tired and nauseous for last couple of days. So I'm not too sure what is going on at this moment. Anyone have any ideas what may be going on? I would love to hear everyone's opinion.

  • It could be anything... your hormones are probably all over the place.

  • Not sure what is currently going on with you, but I have this diagnosis too. Bromocriptine is effective in treating the prolactin issue. Do you know what your levels were? It may help to know how far you have to go. Also, if there is a chance you are pregnant find out ASAP. You are supposed to stop taking that med once you are pregnant unless your levels are really really high.

Dx hyperprolactinemia Oct 2009, started bromocryptine Jan 2010

BFP Oct 2010 DS born June 2011

    Dx galactorrhea Sept 2013

BFP Sept 2013 MC Oct 2013 D&C Nov 2013, back on bromocryptine Nov 2013

  • My levels came back at 47 which my endo explained aren't really that high but still above normal. I think he said most women register in the thousands when their prolactin is high, so I don't have far to go at all. I have appt on the 18 for my yearly so hopefully I will have all my questions answered then. Thanks! I appreciate the help!
