Our little guy has developed a few patches of eczema on his tummy. They just look like little red patches of scaly/itchy skin. Our last pedi told us to use hydrocortisone cream and then put a thin layer of petroleum jelly over it. Our new pedi confirmed but told us to also use a lotion that includes petroleum all over his body. So my question is, has anyone found a lotion that works? The hydrocortisone/pet jelly clears it up within a few days but it starts to reappear within a few more days after I stop it. I'm using the Aveeno baby right now. TIA!!!

Re: Eczema
Eta: I have never used either product, so I can't speak from personal experience.
Is it normal for it to just be a few small patches in a specific area? I haven't seen spots anywhere else on his body. Or does it spread?
I was doing some reading and found where it can be related to a wheat allergy. I really don't think this is the case but it did start around the time we started giving solids so I'm going to try giving him rice instead of oatmeal to rule that out as well.
In the meantime, I'm going to continue with the same bath soap (burts bees baby bee) that we've always used but not wash directly over his tummy. Also continue with the same lotion (aveeno baby) and rotate in the hydrocortisone/petroleum jelly as needed.
From what I read, if it's the wheat allergy it shoukd clear up right away.
Question - how many times a day do you put lotion on your LO?
Thanks again!!!
Anyway, back to square one and will pick a new lotion to try next.
Thanks again for all the input.
