feeling lightheaded and stuck at work - what can I do?

Hi ladies - I've been lurking here for a few weeks, and have posted a couple of replies, but this is my first official post. I'm 6w1d, and I've been pretty lucky with only minor symptoms so far (bloating, cramps and peeing all-the-time) but now I'm starting to feel light headed. I'm stuck at work and just sitting at my desk feeling like I'm not sure I want to get up. Any advice for me? What's worked for you? Is this just a new random symptom or is there something I'm not doing? (more water, less water, more snacks?) Not at all in panic mode, but would rather not let it get that far if I can!
Thanks in advance!!!

Any time I get an unusual symptom, I start chugging water and put my feet up.  We also have a wellness room (do you have one?), where if I'm really not feeling well, I'll go there and sit in a dark room with my feet up for 15 minutes.  I was feeling light headed this morning while I was driving in, so maybe it's normal?

    Maybe you're hungry?

  • I deal with this on occasion while pregnant and I usually just need to eat/drink something. Do you have a small snack to munch on? or can you go grab a juice from a vending machine or something? I get kind of light-headed, warm, faint, tunnel vision-y and if I eat something and sit for a few minutes it passes.

Also, it is worth mentioning to your dr once you do have an appt. It can be nbd, but it can also be an indicator to a bigger problem.

  • Heya - so I'm on my second pregnancy -got my surprise BFP on Friday.  Unfortunately the fatigue can be really hectic in pregnancy. I only peed on a stick because I had 3 days where I could barely stay awake. I feel completely drained like there's a haze over me. When I was pregnant with my first one - I had a day where I slept 14 straight hours! I'd drink cold water, walk when you can - also try eating in small batches so you don't have food slowing you down either. I'm currently working - and it sucks because I can barely stay awake. I take notes verbatim to stop my mind from slipping away. With my very first pregnancy - I fell asleep while driving - which drove me to run to the hospital - where I found out I was pregnant!

I'm 9 weeks 1 day and completely fatigued right now...

  • I used to get very lightheaded with DD and my doc told me it was low iron. I was put on an iron supplement in addition to the pre-natal and it helped a lot.

I was anemic pre-pregnancy though, so I already had low iron numbers.

  • I would go for water and snacks - that is what I do when I feel this way.

  • I work at a desk 8 hours a day Monday through Friday and I have been getting lightheaded often too. Usually if I drink a ton of water, have a snack, and make sure I'm not too hot or cold I start to feel better.
  • Thanks ladies! I loaded up on water and had an early lunch - feeling better already. Will definitely bring it up with the doctor.
