C-sections

I'm type 2 diabetic doc says I need to be induced 2 weeks early , I would rather have a c section

My fetal specialist and obgyn have told me from first apt that I will need to be induced 2 weeks before due date due to placenta deteriorating early .... I was induced with both previous pregnancies for other reasons , I'm thinking this time I would rather have a c section than go thru induction again . Inductions are very stressful on baby . Has anyone else been able to have a c section instead of induction due to diabetes ?

I don't know if I was "able" to have a c section. I was induced (39th) week from being a diabetic and ultimately I had a c section. My doctor only let me labor for 12 hours before ultimately deciding. If I remember correctly there was only a little bit of fetal stress detected at the time but mainly I wasn't progressing and my sugars were getting on the low side.

My other inductions were vaginal labors .,., however the labor lasted forever and was very hard on me and babies ... I do not want to go thru that again . I would much rather have a c section .

Thank you ... Yes I know I need to discuss this with my doctor !!! I was asking a question to other diabetic moms ..., were you able to schedule a c section rather than be induced ? That's all I asked .

Diabetic or not, every doc is going to be different on this.  My OB probably would let you choose a c/s over an induction with Type 2 Diabetes- particularly since you have been through 2 inductions/vaginal deliveries before and know that you don't want to do it again.  I say this only b/c I did have Gestational Diabetes with my first and he started showing signs of distress (Reduced Fetal Movement and Low Heartrate) at 37 weeks.  She gave me the choice of induction or c/s and I chose the c/s knowing that's probably where I'd end up anyway.  I'd much rather deal with the recovery from a planned c/s than an emergency c/s after a failed induction/labor.  But to echo the other posters, a c/s is no walk in the park either and if you have 2 other kids to take care of, you should be prepared for a MUCH longer recovery time and have extra childcare lined up.

    (From D13 mommy)

@supermommyhart - I had gestational hypertension, and my doctor told me that I would start my induction that night, but my cervix was showing no sign of opening, and I told my doctor that I did not believe my cervix would dilate, and I wanted to go straight to a c section. He listened, made sure that is what I wanted, and agreed. It ended up being the best option, as LO had his cord wrapped around his neck 3x.
