I hate snow!!

I hate it with a passion.  I live in NE Alabama and work in a hospital.  So, yesterday, the local school system decided they would delay school by 3 hours (start at 1030) because of the cold temps.  All the weather forecasters said that if we got anything, it would simply be a dusting.  Fine, whatever.  They've said the word "snow" so much this winter that it's almost like "crying wolf".  So, anyway, go to my job this morning (no snow, temp is 20 degrees, no reason to delay IMO).  About 9:30, my husband sends me a text that it is snowing where he works.  Okay, NBD.  The next thing I know people I work with say the doctor's parking lot is covered in snow and it's sticking.  Then, I get a message from the school that even though the kids just got to school, they are loading them back on the bus and sending them home.  I finally get a chance to leave work, because apparently you can't cancel surgeries because of snow, and it took me 4 hours to drive the normal 35 minute drive home.  I even ended up picking my husband up on my way on the side of the road because his car had slid across the highway and into a ditch.  He was ok and the car is okay, but still it made for a long day.  I will be so glad when it's warm and toasty and beach weather!!!

I feel yah. I am in the metro ATL area and it is mass chaos. It took me 1.5 hours to get home at 1:30 this afternoon as compared to usually 35 minutes. A few people I know sat in their cars trying to get home for 4-5 hours if they left later than me.

Yeah, me too. Except I'm in Michigan and we have at least 18" in the ground and snow banks on the side of the road that are taller than me. Don't even get me started on the parking situation, I have on street parking and have to dig my car out every day. This winter has been tough.

I think there's over 2 feet here on the Lake Michigan lake shore area. It's obnoxious. Today was DD's 9th snow day of the school year, and tomorrow has a 2 hr delay. I feel like I've been snowed in forever. We're all so restless around here and DD is actually excited to go back! I won't even get into the driving situation, except to say this wasn't too far from us:

Yeah..central Alabama here. It took me 2 hours to get home from work..approximately a 10 mile drive. People were (of course) panicking and making things worse. I'm talking..driving down the wrong side of the road...in reverse. 

I know several people who are stranded. Some pulled over and found refuge in places of business, some are still in their cars, and one made it to a friend's house nearby. I'm just thankful right now that DH and I both made it home from work safely.

I'm in Michigan and so far we have had over 50 inches of snowfall this season in the Detroit Metro area. Today school got canceled because once again our temps have plummeted to a balmy -25 degrees (other areas if MI saw even worse).

Needless to say, I am SO over winter!

Central al here as well. I completely agree, they cried wolf too many times and then everything that could have gone wrong did. Took my husband hours to get home, but we're lucky he did.

Western NC...DOT fails to salt the highways, so my husband, who was supposed to work at 1am (graveyard is fun right?) left at 7:00 to get there safely and rest.  Well, they let him clock in at 8:30 to get some extra hours, but still he works until 9am.  Boo icy roads!  I'm ready for sunshine!

In west michigan... We have had over 75" of snow so far and still another month of good winter to go. Yesterday, they closed many local universities (again) and they have been ticketing people for even driving on the roads unless it is an emergancy. Seriously, not looking forward to driving to work this morning

I feel ya!! I'm really hating all this cold and snowy weather Ohio has been having!! We've been in below zero temps on and off since the new year and I hate it! I work in retail and our owners just won't close us even though no one is coming in! When customers do come in they're bitching about how cold it is!

my company has an office in Atlanta, so we are hearing of the ensuing chaos from co-workers. I gotta say I found it a little silly since it happened with 2 inches of snow, but I do understand that they don't have the infrastructure in place to handle snow in GA.

Reminds me of Northern Virginia's "Snowmageddon" in early 2011where it took people 5-12 hrs to get home and people abandoned their cars in the middle of the road. I drove to work the next day and it looked like an end-of-the-world movie scene. You had to slolum your way through. crazy stuff.

Ohio weather has sucked this year! Here in Southern Ohio we are supposed to hit 37° tomorrow though!

NE alabama here.i understand completly.my husband also slid off the road and we are still waiting on the tow truck to be able to go get it whenched out.hubby had to hitch ride home with sheriff office,took him 3 hrs.for a 30 min.drive.at least hes safe and was lucky cause a lot of people were stuck walking.
