So T eats a lot of purees and a small amount of actual food. I've been trying to give him more food lately like pasta, avocado, and bananas. I'd love to start giving him some sort of meat though but I'm not sure how I feel about the meat that comes in the baby jars (we do a lot of the Gerber and Earth's Best veggies and fruits though). I'm looking for some ideas of what I can try to get some meat into him. He only has one tooth and I'm always worried about him choking. Thanks in advanced!
I found ground beef and turkey really easy for her to eat at first. If you are worried about meat get organic, hormone free beef and grind it yourself if you are really worried. I also give her fish (low mercury fish) she has no teeth and she does fine with this.
We just rip up pieces so he can get them. He's had chicken, beef, pork, venison and turkey. He was much happier when we backed off on purées and let him feed himself.
@laxmom44 my dad hunts all fall and usually gets us our own deer. We have about 100 pounds to go through way cheaper than beef and I know where it can from.
I did a baby food cooking day recently and added meats to the list. We boiled and puréed chicken with a few splashes of cooking liquid. It turned out nicely. A smoother version of hummus... I set aside some beef from tonight to do the same with...
My son is a little older but he is eating meats like chicken and beef from whatever I make for dinner. Chicken from soups, beef from stew, I just cut it into small pieces for him. He also likes scrambled egg yolks and cottage cheese which also both have a lot of protein. I did give him some of my salmon the other day and he liked that too!
We also feed him the Plum and Happy baby pouches that have meat in them. The jarred meats gross me out!
My LO loves meatballs. I use turkey or lean ground beef. She also eats shredded chicken and pork, but fish is her absolute favorite. It's soft and easy for her to chew. Scrambled eggs also work well for getting protein in baby's diet.
We are doing mostly BLW with some purees. I agree, the idea of pureed meat grosses me out. Nug doesn't like the texture of ground meat, but she's gnawed on pieces of turkey, chicken, pork (chop or tenderloin) and sausages.

I hit the like button for the pun - not because your LO is choking on things. Sorry! I'm so nervous about that too!
