It has been crazy and I can't believe that I am just now posting this update.

Archer Sebastian was born at 35 weeks via emergency c-section on January 28th at 3:00pm.

They were hoping to let me try to deliver naturally, but a few minutes after they administered my epidural, the placenta abrupted completely and we were off to the OR.  They were prepared for it from the minute we arrived though and had explained what would happen in that scenario ahead of time and literally had us in the room across from the OR and an outfit set out for Joel in the likely event that he would need it.

Everything happened really fast, but our team was great and had me in the OR, asleep and baby out in a few minutes flat. They didn't have time to wait for the epidural to kick in so they had to put me under general anesthesia.  Since that meant Joel couldn't be there with me, one of the nurses even took pictures for us when he was born.

I lost over a liter of blood on top of what I had lost leading up to his birth and had also had an epidural, general anesthesia, morphine, and dilaudid by the time I woke up, so I was really out of it for the first day.  Joel was able to hold him and feed him right away while I was recovering and I got to see and he helped me hold him as soon as I woke up.

Archer is little, about 4lbs 12 oz now, but he is a strong little guy! They were pleasantly surprised that he did not have to spend any time in the NICU and that I recovered so quickly. We were discharged after 5 days, just got settled in at home and are doing great! Thank you all so much for the thoughts and prayers!

They've decided that the risk of him staying in is greater than him coming out. I went to L&D yesterday for a clot and bleeding and had big gushes once I got to the hospital. They got us stabilized and once contractions died down (after 12 hours) they decided to try to let him bake as long as possible. They bought him an extra day on the inside, but today decided to augment rather than risk a complete abruption and emergency situation. They said at 35 weeks he should be in good shape, we're hoping that everything goes smoothly with their plan to let me try to deliver.
