High-Risk Pregnancy

First Pregnancy And High Risk

Hi my name is Mercedes and I am pregnant for the first time. I am 10 weeks and 4 days and today I had my first ultrasound and second doctors visit. Today I also got confirmed that i am a high risk pregnancy and I also lost more weight and if I lose any more they are going to have me stay in the hospital and give me an IV. I really do not know how i lost the weight and the morning sickness is getting better but if i eat too much I get sick. I am at a lose.

  • Eat several small meals even if your eating every 30 minutes just eat small meals. "Graze" as my doctor told me with my first one, I lost 11 lbs in the first three months couldn't keep anything down. Good luck I hope everything turns out ok for you.

  • Protein shakes are good for keeping weight on. Hope thinks turn around for you soon!
  • With both my pregnancies I lost 15 lbs in the first tri, and I'm petite to start with. I end up underweight until my HG passes. Does their concern for the weight loss have to do with your reasons for being high risk? My doctors never cared about the loss and say it is no big deal within the first trimester.
  • I am high risk because of my autoimmune diereses I think but they still have not told me why I am high risk. I am only 5 feet and i have not been this light is like 6 years. I am feeling better today and I am trying to eat but I just do not feel like eating.

  • Odd that they haven't told you.  It may depend on your particular autoimmune diseases, however I was told mine make me high risk for pre eclampsia.

  • I have Hashimoto's Disease. Some may know what it is but it is where my antibodies attack my thyroid because they think it is bad for me. I really did not know I had it till 2 years ago because my Pediatric Endo did not test me really for any thing and just checked my levels.

  • Graze Graze Graze! You basically need to be nibbling non-stop. You don't want to have a full stomach. Also - you might want to let yourself graze on some higher calorie snacks here and there too.

  • How about eggs? They are great for protein and super easy snacks. I cook a bunch every three days or so and just eat them cold with a little salt :)
  • I had a horrible aversion to meat and eggs were the only thing I could stomach. They are still a huge part of my diet at 26 weeks.
