Being induced this Thursday!!

As a FTM I'm a little anxious as to what to expect when I'm induced this week so wondered how other STMs experiences went. I'm having cervidil inserted on Wed night then they said they will start pitocin Thursday morning and possibly break my water later that day. Hoping for a vaginal birth and to avoid a c/s if at all possible!

I was induced with my son.  I had a dose of Pitocin at like 6:30 in the morning, and he was born the following morning at 6:40.  I did not have Cervidil and they didn't break my water- it broke in the middle of the night on it's own.  Yes, I was in labor for 24 hours but I wasn't feeling contractions that whole time so it sounds worse than it was.  A friend of mine was induced today and she had her baby in like 5 hours!

I'll be induced this weekend if LO doesn't show before then.  I have my last doctor's appt. Wednesday and will schedule everything then.  Good luck to you.

I didn't have the cervidil, but I went in at like 7 am. They started the Pitocin around 8, and broke my water. Everything went pretty well except that I am apparently allergic to penicillin and had to be pumped full of benedryl. The contractions weren't fun, but they weren't terrible, so I ended up doing only IV pain meds, no epidural. DD was born after 6 hours of labor. All in all, not too bad.

I won't tell my induction story again. I'll just leave it as this...56 hours from beginning to end (ended in c-section too).

Why are you having an induction?

I'm being induced because my baby is measuring very big 9lbs plus right now and I want to try everything I can to have her vaginally and not via c-section. Doctors feel that 39 weeks is ok so that's what I'm going with. Just hoping maybe in the next couple of days I go naturally :)

I just had a failed induction a week ago today. When I went in I was only dilated to 1cm. They were going to give me a dose of cytotec every 4 hours. We started with the first inserted dose and as they were monitoring baby's heart rate they noticed that every time I had a contraction, her heart rate would decel. At the time I was suppose to get the second dose, the nurse came in and told me about baby's heart rate and that I was going to have a baby now. She had already called my dr who was on her way to perform a c-section.

By the time the nurse came in to tell me, the dr arriving, and me laying in the operating room, only 25 minutes had passed. It all happened sooo fast. I walked to the OR (had no Epi yet since I had barely even felt a contraction), they gave me the spinal, they cleaned me, my DH came in and sat by my head, and within a few minutes I heard a cry.

I will admit I was scared for the c-section, but it really wasn't bad. Just as long as you have someone to help you during recovery (like pp said). They released me from the hospital in just two days. My recovery is going great so far.

Good luck to you!! I hope you are able to go naturally like you want!!
