progesterone cream questions

I should have asked the questions at my appointment but I suppose part of me was skeptical that it would do anything. My next appointment isn't for 2 months. 

1) I was told to use progesterone cream for 12DPO but if I'm pregnant I'm supposed to continue using it. How exactly will I know I'm pregnant? Yes, I know POAS but with my last BFP, it wasn't positive til 15 DPO. I seem to be really sensitive to even using this stuff a few hours late if I'm not home or whatever.

2) Is it expected that, in time, my body will start to produce enough progesterone on its own? Or is it once your body stops making adequate amounts, it doesn't really start back again?

I do progrsterone shots w IVF, but as for second question, after 8 weeks the placenta takes over progesterone production (originally done by corpus luteum left behind by egg at ovulation).

My RE has to start me on progesterone from O until testing date. If at your testing date you aren't pregnant, you stop the progesterone, as progesterone *can* delay AF. If you are pregnant, my RE has you take the progesterone until week 10. By week 10 the placenta has developed enough to start producing progesterone. Every RE is a little different as to when they start and stop progesterone.
