We almost named DD Harley Quinn after the batman villain. Good thing we didn't because apparently DD prefers Black Canary. She calls herself that all the time. She's obsessed with Batman.

When it comes to names we both have to agree. I wasn't 100% sure on Amelia. I thought it was too old fashioned. But it grew on me and it definitely fits DD.

DH doesn't like the girls name that I absolutely love, but there's still no way I could force him into using it. I would be really upset if he did that to me, so I wouldn't do it to him. I would feel really guilty knowing that he wasn't happy about our child's name.

Same here. We're naming our child, not playing Chutes & Ladders so not "winning" or "losing".

we took forever to find a name we agreed upon for DS but eventually found one we both liked. We haven't started yet for this baby, and it will probably be harder to find another boy name, but we will eventually find something.

We decide on names together. We decide on all big decisions together out of respect. I'd be devestated if he thought he could name our child without my input, and I'd never dream of doing that to him.
OP---You have plenty of time to find a name you both like. Don't make this all about you.

Can I just be excited for the name Amelia?  It's our front runner, and likely the name we will choose if this LO is a girl.  

It's a great name! We get a lot of compliments on it and there are a good variety of nicknames you can choose from it! (We call DD Mimi.)

We are both enginerds, so we take a really nerdy approach to names and make a spreadsheet. I pick five names I like, and he picks five. We both score all the names 1-10, and the ones with the highest scores go on te short list...which stays the list until game time, evidently, because when DS was born we didn't finalize his name until 11 hours after I went into labor!!! Then I just let him pick anyway b/c it was his first born. I get the preference on this one

And I am even more glad that told him no. Mine was solely based on psycho batman villain, but those books are definitely not what I'd want my daughter associated with.

I was stoked about names far earlier than anyone else probably is. I'm pretty sure DW wasn't quite there with me yet when it came to names but she was entertained by my excitement. So, I picked a few names before she mentioned any and she agreed. It wasn't until later that she told me she wasn't completely crazy about the names to begin with so, we compromised we even found a way to incorporate both our names which is really special to us. Maybe you can find cool ways to mix both the names you love and that he loves. I can imagine that poopooing his names might have made him feel dominated.

False.  DH and I agreed on our names about 5 years ago.  This is our first child!

I've had a running list since I was a child and a specific theme set up. I'm not sure about future children but DH loved both my choices for first boy first girl. (Oddly enough first boy name I had is actually his name which is the only thing he's been adamant on since we got married that he wanted his first son to be a second.) our girls name choice is my MN and my moms name. He loves both names. So I can't say we really compromised much since I've had these names picked since I was a child... More so that we have the same taste and he loves them.

He really liked the names I had already been thinking about. We tweaked first and middle name combos together, but overall it was a very simple and mutual agreement.

DH helped make our little boy so he damn sure has a say in his name. We both have to be in agreement on a name or its out the window. I can not imagine naming my child a name that DH did not love.
