Cleaning pump parts

How do you clean your pump parts? I've been following the manual and soaking, washing then boiling. Some people have told me that's not really necessary though.

Re: Cleaning pump parts

  • Throughout the day, just stick them in the fridge, and wash once a day.

This is what I do too. I hate washing it so only having to do it once a day is nice.

  • I rinse them out immediately each time and let air dry, and then about 2 times a day I use hot soapy water to clean. Once a week I boil them

I love the medela steam clean bags. You can throw everything in them - pump parts, pacifiers, bottle parts, nipples, etc. I like the faster process, since it only takes 2 minutes to sterilize.

Just bought these this weekend and they are great! I still wash with soap and water then throw everything in there! Works great!

That might be a bit overboard lol.
Haha well I don't sanitize every time. I'm not that crazy! I just wasn't going to stick it in the bag all milky.

Let sit in soapy water long enough to drink a glass of water, rinse and air dry. If I'm starting the dw I just put it in there. Boil once a week. The directions say sterilize every day. I lol'd at that. Edit spelling. Wtf

I really like the Medela Breastmilk removal soap. You barely have to scrub -- just soak in hot water and a few squirts...gets all the oily residue off. And I also use the fridge trick and just clean once at the end of the day.

  • I rinse under really hot water between uses and steam once a day using the medela steam bags
