DS used to be so easy to put down for naps and bedtime...read a book or two, lay him down, he'd turn his mobile on which projects on the ceiling, and he'd be fine rolling around til he fell asleep.
For the last week and a half he refuses to go to bed at night--cries the second I leave and DH has to go in and after that he'll be ok - not sure why but if I go back in DS starts crying before I've even left...except last night DH had to go in 3 times. I don't know if we are on our way to having to CIO again or if this will pass on it's own.
Because if this he's been falling asleep later (even when we start the bedtime process much earlier) but still waking at 6/6:30 (today it was 5:45). So he's getting 9, maybe 10 some nights, hours of sleep. He will take a 2 hour nap usually (but again fight going down). I don't know if this is just a normal sleep regression, if it's from teething (his 4 canines are all "right there" according to his pedi), if it's a separation anxiety thing...anyone have a similar experience?

Same thing with DS - although his started from teething. But even after teething was done, he got used to us being in the room and patting him to sleep. He also fights the bedtime routine - refuses to go to his bedroom, put on PJs, etc. Every step is a battle. I think maybe cognitively he is much more alert now and likes to have fun instead of going to bed, even when he is clearly tired.
We've been phasing out the patting him to sleep part - for the past few nights, we just sat there in the dark with him. Hopefully he'd get back to normal soon.
