My husband and I really want to stick with tradition and name the baby something that starts with a K. We have a girls name, but are having a really difficult time with boy names. These are some we like.

  • Thanks for the honesty I guess... I didn't think they were anywhere near as bad as some of the other ones I had heard.
  • Oh dear. I couldn't vote. I really like Corbin and Colton but not misspelled.

Names that start with K that I like are: Kai, Keegan, and Kirk.

Sorry, I couldn't vote either for the same reason. The one name I can see spelt both ways is Carl/Karl. Other K names could be Kenneth, Keanu, Kirk, Konstantin.

  • Kevin, Kyle, even Karl would be better than any of the names you listed. I honestly side-eye every name on that list. But with C's, I like Conner and Colton.

  • Non vote...spell them with a C or pick a true K name if you want it to start with that initial.

  • I have to agree with PPs... those names look rather odd if spelled with a K.  My favorite among them would be Connor (or Konner, I guess), but I'd recommend going with a name that is meant to be spelled with a K.  There are plenty to choose from: Kyle, Kenneth, Keith, Kieran, Kevin, Klaus, Kent, Kellan...

  • Sorry, I dislike all of these.

But I chose Kolton as the best of the list. I don't like it, though. I do love several of these actual names, but spelled with a C. They don't look correct with K's. Made up.

  • Honestly, if I saw one of those names on paper for a child, I'd think the parents tried to make a boys name more feminine by using a K, and the child was actually a girl. It just seems like you see that a lot nowadays with K's and Y's. I'd keep looking. How about Kelvin?

  • If you can't agree on a name that actually begins with a "k" then I would skip the tradition. Yikes.

  • I generally don't care for names that begin with a K and would ditch that tradition if I couldn't find anything I liked.

I STRONGLY recommend using a name that actually legit starts with a K like Kevin or Kenneth or Kyle or others PPs have suggested.  Not only is changing the C to a K kind of cutesy and cheesy and all sorts of other things I dislike, it means your son will constantly have to spell out his name for people who are expecting it to be spelled the usual way.  Don't make him have to do that just because of a tradition.

  • I don't really like spelling those with Ks either.  It reminds me too much of the Kardashians.  That being said, it's your kid, do what you like.  I picked Kolton but also like Konner.

  • Yikes. I agree with everyone else. None of those names should start with a K. They are just as bad, if not worse, than all the other made up names out there. Please don't use any of them unless you spell them with a C.

  • I do not like replacing names that typically start with a 'c' with a 'k'. With that being said, our boy front runner is Kellan.

  • The only one I sort of like is Connor, spelled properly. I'd ditch the tradition if you don't like any actual K names. I like Kevin, Keith, and Kieran.

  • To me Korbin and Kolton look ok with a K. I do like Korbin. The other two look wrong.

  • Yikes... These are terrible. Either spell them right or pick a name that actually starts with a K.

  • I couldn't vote either. Konner has to be the worst by far. I agree with the others who suggested other real K names. I'll add Kieran and Kellan as other K names that I really like
  • My favorite boys name that starts with a K is Kurt. None of the names on your list start with K. If you are changing C to K because your family has used up all of the K names that you like and you are grasping at straws then is time to start honoring family members by using their names and not time to start changing C names to K names. Or it is time to start a new tradition.

  • Don't take a name that's starts w a "C" and just slap on a "K". What about Kristopher, Keith, Kevin, Kellan, Kieran, Karsten, Kyle, Kenneth ... All legitimate names.
  • Oh yikes... I'm sorry but I can't vote either. Love Connor but not with that messed up spelling.

  • I can't vote either. Since they are traditionally names that begin with C, all if these names look made up by starting them with a K. PPs have made some really good suggestions of names that traditionally begin with a K.

  • I can't vote, as they are all equally horrendous with a k. Clayton I actually like, when spelled correctly. Connor is ok. The other two are pretty bad IMO.
  • Eek. I can't vote.

I find any C name changed to a K, Kardashian style, to be deeply offputting.

There are some fine names that actually start with K that have been mentioned.

  • I'm not voting because those all start with C. Other options...
Keegan or Kael? There aren't very many good "K" boy names
  • I don't get this. What does this do for you? You want a K name so badly you will change a C name to start with a K? These are not K names. I just don't get it. How does the first letter of the name mean that much that you would just decide to misspell a name?

If you want a K so badly, choose an actual K name.
  • Also couldn't vote. Please don't give any of those to your future son, he will hate defending his name for the rest if his life.

  • I'm with the others--if you're looking for K names, you should pick a K name. One I didn't see mentioned that might be your style is Kellan.

  • I am not a fan of these spelled this way either.  I voted Korbin. IMO it looks the best with a K. How about these suggestions:

    Keaton
    Knox

    OPs included other nice suggestions.

  • I can't vote- they are not good!

    I like Kyle, Kevin, Kaedon.
  • I really like Kyle, if you need a K name

  • These are all so very bad. Clayton and Conner are good names IMO, but just ruined when spelled with a K.

You can not just replace a C with a K, it doesn't always work phonetically and it looks really uneducated. This whole trend is going to be heavily dated to the current generation.

    Kenneth
    Kai
    Kendall
    Keenan
Kingston - not sure if this is a real name or not, but I have heard it several times

I don't like naming themes. I don't "get it" because the child is an individual. Give them the best name you can, not restrained by letters for childish reasons. They will feel just as much a part of your family.
