planning on CD and I have a washer that only has the option to be hooked up to cold water. does anybody only wash diapers in cold water or know of the most sanitary way to wash without hot water?
Our machine is a cold water machine, and the water has never been more than tepid. We've had no issues with getting the diapers clean, but we also have soft water.
This is a great article that talks about the factors that go into cleaning laundry and how changing one part of the pie will mean changing the other parts (in terms of detergent, wash time, water levels, water temperature, etc.): https://www.realdiaperassociation.org/wash/laundry-science.php
We use cotton flats, which are super easy to clean. I have a couple of microfiber inserts but not a lot, but from what I see on this board, that can be a very difficult fabric to keep clean, but even there I've not had any problems.
When I rented the water never got hot enough, it was warm at best. For the hot part of my wash, i boiled water on the stove, trudged it down to the washer and poured it in.
