Pull-Ups Party Planning Help

I don't know if you've heard of houseparty.com but it's a place that you can get selected to throw parties for different brand/products.  If you get excepted they send you a bunch of product to have a party with.

I got selected to do a Hello Pull-Ups, Goodbye Diapers party.  They are sending me two packages of pull-ups (boy and girl), noisemakers, reward progress charts, stickers, coupon books.

I am trying to figure out what sort of activities I should have for the kids to do.  I have a potty book I was going to read (thinking about getting some more from the library to just have around for them to look at), have a coloring sheet that was related to potty training, free play time in the playroom, and possibly show a potty video (only one I know of is sesame street I believe, I'd have to find it).

I was hoping to have one more activity, maybe a fun and easy game that the kids could win pull-ups doing.  I plan on setting aside a certain number of pull-ups per kid in attendance (so that everybody goes home with at least say 5), but thought winning some would be fun.  Since they are young I was going to give them one for coloring a picture, sitting on the potty (diapers on or off), two for going potty, that sort of thing.

Also food, the party is from 10-12 and I wasn't planning on serving lunch.  I was thinking about having pretzel sticks, pasta salad, maybe some chex mix, blueberries, clementines, juice, and water.  Do you think that is enough?  Should I add something else?

So to be clear, I'm asking for at least one more 'potty' related activity to do and if I need more food/drink.  Thank you for taking the time to read all of that!

Re: Pull-Ups Party Planning Help

  • How old are the kids you are inviting?  If they are potty training age, I would guess that their attention spans aren't going to be that long and that between all of the activities you listed and then an additional game, they will lose interest and not stick to your plan.

Honestly, I would keep it simple and just do goodie bags with the Pull Ups and a couple of other goodies and skip having kids win them.  As for the food, it sounds good to me but I would possibly  skip the pasta salad and just keep it to finger foods.  Maybe add in some sort of breakfast pastry since it's 10-12 and call it good.
  • Loading the player...
  • They are all in the 2 -3 range.  I don't plan on their being a schedule, just different things set up for them to do whenever they please.  I want to have a variety so that there is hopefully something that will entice all the kids and they can do whatever they want on their own time.  So far there will be about 8 toddlers, with the possibility of about 20 (yikes!).

Breakfast pastry would be good.  Maybe some mini breakfast muffins, easy to make and healthy too.

  • That is the weirdest thing. Why is moving from diapers to...different diapers a party?

I have no idea...my DD is already potty trained, we use pull-ups at night but never used them in the training process.  I knew my friends wanted to use them for their kids though so I applied for the party, they are very excited to have this party.

  • When large groups of young kids get together, they generally don't do organized activities. They run around like crazy people and have a great time doing nothin in particular. I'd have coloring sheets available and call it good. Two hours will fly by. You don't need to stress over it.

Foodwise, I agree with ditching the pasta salad and sticking to finger food.

And, this might just be me, but I find the idea of encouraging them to tae diapers off and try to go on a potty to be over the top. I think that's opening up a can of worms you may regret.

  • Ok, I can't stop coming back to this. WTF? This is really weird! I would not bring my kid to this party.
  • We are a close group of mom and I know that they all plan on using pull-ups because it's "easier" and less messy (their words). I don't plan on encouraging them to take off diapers and sit on the potty, just plan on letting them sit on it if they want (diapers on, only diapers off if they ask). We do this at every play date too, the other moms want them to get used to sitting on it.

It's a marketing tool utilized by lots of companies, not just pull-ups. They send party hosts packages with samples and coupons and want to reach the wallet of the host's friends. it's not that much different than, say, a Tupperware party, except they hope people seek the product out in stores.

  • Maybe have some dolls that the kids can play with? Include some little potties, undies and pull ups.
  • I think having a party for ANY reason is fabulous!  Hope you guys have a blast!!
