Cloth Diapering

Poop vent.

DS only poops about once a week these days and it is just insane. I don't think any diaper or cover can hold these explosions. Usually just a bit escapes out the back, but by the time he is done flailing around like a crazy person and trying his hardest to stick his hands and feet in it, diaper changes inevitably turn into bath time. Prefolds are my wipes of choice these days. I thought I was going to avoid another bath today, but when I realized it was in his armpit I quit trying.

  • I had the same issue. I switched to fitteds and covers around the times I was expecting her to poop. The elastic on the diaper held most in, the cover held most of the rest. I still had some escapes though. I really had a monster pooper too. There was just nowhere else for the poop to go.

  • Is LO drinking enough water? Or would adding pears or prunes help LO to poo more regularly? I know all kids are different, just wondering if that might help.

  • DH went through a spell of this, too. My pedi gave us the okay to give him an ounce or two of watered-down prune and pear juice. I prefer giving him the real fruit, but the juice helped, too. I also read somewhere that the orange foods will often cause constipation (pumpkin, sweet potatoes, carrots), so we tried to space the orange ones out a bit.

  • I wondered about  that @Chickypoo2468 ... If he were constipated would the consistancy be different? He doesn't seem to have any trouble, just doesn't go as often now.

I thought constipation would mean hard dry poop. When DS started solids, he went from pooping multiple times a day, to mostly just once a day. Sometimes I even get a poopless day.
