My confession is that after previously declaring that I'm anti FB group, I've changed my mind.
I'm not leaving the Bump, but I anticipate that a lot of people are (or severely cutting back their participation). I totally understand the reason why and don't blame anyone who no longer feels comfortable posting here, but this is a support network some of us (or maybe just me) don't get anywhere else and I think it would be a shame to lose that.
If a FB group is the answer to keeping the board going, I'm down.
My FFFC (not really a confession) although I support the idea of a fb group, I am leery of everyone now because I don't know who the fluck you are. I likely wouldn't join a fb group. This whole thing has creeped me out even if I have my guesses who the crazy was.
I've always been afraid of the internets....it's a big scary world out there. A FB group scares me too because anyone can steal your pictures on that shit.
R has been having an epically crappy sleeping week and my supply is dropping so MOTN feedings are formula. Last night I was so delirious I put a scoop of formula into my glass of water. When I realized I dropped the rest of the scoop all over my nightstand. I was too tired to clean it up. When I got up this morning I saw white powder everywhere and it looked like I had been on a cocaine binge.
My FFFC: We fed J waaaay too much last night and he wound up puking from over eating. The poor kid has just been eating SO poorly during the day (5oz from 7:30-3:30?) that I thought he was really that starving! So he ate 7 1/2 oz of formula and then proceeded to try and eat 2 containers of baby food. I told my hubby as he was opening the 2nd one that it was going to be too much but J just kept eating.
We learned our lesson!!!! We'll never do that again!
My FFFC is that my name is really Bertha, I am a from Idaho. I am 23 years old, I like Twilight books and model in twilight skimpy dresses next to my Edward life size cut out poster. Come find me internet creepies.
Damn you Hibs! You took mine! Mine is real though and it looks pretty scraggly because I stopped watering it like 2 weeks ago.
Do I get bonus points because its real and shedding needles like a mofo?
Mine is also real! Needles EVERYWHERE. I snapped off a branch last night because they no longer bend and it was stabbing me every time I walked by.

My FFFC is that my name is Betsy, I live in Wisconsin and I am a cow. Get it? Betsy the cow?
Wait which state is the dairy state? F'ing U.S. geography! Joke fail!

I really like this forum and don't plan to leave. I do however plan to be extra careful about what I post now.
I agree though I'm sure other posters will start to leave which is too bad. It really sucks that our once awesome board will probably dwindle.

You probably meant "Bessy" the cow, not "Betsy"
Well just fuckity fuck....aren't I the biggest loser.
But seriously which one is the dairy state? Does it start with an I?
Idaho is potato right? Iowa? Corn? Illinois....Disappointing football teams!!! Hahaha see what I did?

You were right with Wisconsin! The Green Bay Packers always have the cheese hats...
I don't get why people would join a FB group with internet strangers where they would now know your real name and potentially additional personal details (location, pic, etc). There's a reason for SN's.
3 ectopic pregnancies (EDD's 1/30/12-tube removed, 6/2/12-methotrexate and 10/2/12-methotrexate)
IVF and Natural FET resulted in BFN's and a hole in our wallets
Natural BFP #4 on 9/7/12 gave us our miracle on 5/18/13

I'm in a FB group (unrelated to TB) and I can only see what people make public, or make public to "Friends of friends" - I'm only friends with one person in the group. How much people can see is completely dependent on how you set your privacy settings.

But so many people don't even realize that the information they've put on FB can be seen by the world if not addressed properly.

I made G oatmeal with breast milk and butternut squash last night. But it was too late and he was too tired and wouldn't even eat a bite. So I fed it to the dog. Breast milk. And then felt odd when he loved it so much he pushed the bowl all around the kitchen making sure he didn't miss a drop.
On a MOTY note, I made the baby cry by yelling at the dog for digging another damn hole. I felt awful.

I put my info on there... but it's set so that only friends can see it. My point was that just because you're in a FB group, doesn't mean that the strangers in the group can see it. You're not "friends" with the people in the group, so if only "friends" can see your info, people in the group can't.
@kmcd23 that reminded me of my FFFC
I am considering giving my out of date frozen BM to my dog because I don't want to waste it.
She will eat horse muck so a bit of out of date BM should be fine, right!?

Meaning they were not aware of the privacy settings and haven't set that information to private. I have a friend that made her cover photo a pic of her granddaughter with the girls name and birth date. I cringed because I know cover photos can't be made private.

The thing that is creepy about the Facebook group is that if a tride and true crazy gets in they now know your first and last name. Which means they can go back and connect anything you've posted on TB to your full name. Yikes.

This makes me nervous. All this crazy stuff does. I purposely did not use my name and I haven't posted any pictures of A. I wish it were easier to spot these people.

BFP#1- April 24th. M/c-April 30th. BFP#2-September 11th. EDD: May 25th.
It's a girl!!! (:
Madison arrived on May 19th at 6:35 am (:
The other thing about FB is that anyone in the group can see your real name, and then google you ... And if you're active elsewhere on the internet (Pinterest, Instagram, you had an aspiring modeling career in another life, etc) they can piece together more info about you than you'd care to share.
I think our board has been burned a couple of times with people not being who they pretended to be, so a lot of us are just wary. Even without knowing the details of what happened to Shank, I assumed that by posting about it here, she thinks it was another bumpie or a lurker here, which is creepy. I'm not planning to leave the board but I will be more careful about the personal details I post.
@beaubecca don't you have to be a member of the bmb to have access to all of the postings? Shank said that the info was found on here but I dont recall her posting we life story in a single post so it has to be someone who sat and dug through all of our posts. That's creepy to me.
I have a few confessions -
When I have classes, I tell H I have to leave early to set up. I'm actually stopping through McDonalds on my way.
We go through wipes so quickly because I use them as makeup removers.
I still haven't purchased my brothers Christmas gift or sent my sister and her H's to them.
Anyone can access BMB. You need to be member to post on them. I've said this before, but for me, it's not the people who post that I'm afraid of, it's all the lurkers. Your next door neighbor could be reading everything you write and you'd never know. Also, this was way back when, but there was a bumpie who stole another bumpie pic of her kid and used it as her own somewhere else.....super creepy.
Am I the only one who is not super creeped out? Don't get me wrong I feel for Shank. But without knowing details (maybe some of you know more than I do? Work is busy lately so I have a hard time keeping up) it could be just random crazy that like BridetoBe said could happen anywhere to anyone.
Bottom line is if you all are really as "creeped out or scared" as you say then perhaps a message board isn't for you. Not that I'm advocating getting rid of you!!! I love our board, but I guess my confession is I am kind of side-eyeing the reaction to Shank's warning considering we don't have a lot of detail. Flame away.
I dunno...I think knowing that someone took this outside of the internet by using personal information she posted here to be enough details to creep me the eff out.
I don't know what they did either, but messing with someone IRL which could possibly involve her family...VS. someone pretending to be someone they aren't on TB? I don't think there's any over reaction.
