In light of the new year...

and along the line of resolutions, how do you teach yourself to let things go? I do not want DS to take after me in that area, I feel hurt very easily and have a hard time not taking things personally and I see it effect my relationship with my in laws. I want DS to have a good relationship with them and I really need to learn to let thing go and not let it bother me or consume my thoughts as much as I let it! Any ideas?

Re: In light of the new year...

  • For me, I let things go easily by reminding myself of how whatever it is I'm bothered by fits into the grand scheme of life. My boss once told me to choose my battles and it helps. Usually, whatever is bothering you really isn't worth your stress. I've also lost a few loved ones suddenly, which teaches you to not hold on to things. DH, however, can't seem to grasp this. He holds on to things for a long time.

  • I used to let things bother me too, but unless it's something about ds, then I don't care anymore. Truthfully, I just don't have the time or the brain capacity to handle anymore stress than I already have.
