Stroller question for moms of 15 month olds and up...

At 15 months, is your child still napping in the stroller? Would you ever buy a stroller for ~15 month old that didn't recline (like a Joey or add on seat)? At what age do they stop using the stroller and walk or use a ride on board? Thanks in advance!

Re: Stroller question for moms of 15 month olds and up...

  • G is almost 18 months old. He will sleep in his stroller if it's nap time. However, we rarely bring our stroller out with us. He wants to walk and hates being strapped into anything. The only time we do bring it along is when we will be somewhere, like Disneyland, all day and he needs a place to nap. Some strollers that don't recline could still be used to nap in. But ours does recline and I would definitely want that as a feature.

Are you buying a new stroller?

  • I got the Joovy caboose when DD2 was born. DD1 is 2 1/2 and can either stand or sit and the baby car seat can go in the front. We only use it if there's going to be a lot of walking or if I go to the mall w both girls alone.

My son will be 15 or 16 months when the twins arrive so I was looking into strollers. We live in an urban area and the stroller is our car. I've been looking into strollers for three and I don't love the Joey seat option. If my son gets tired I want him to be able to lay down. I have a ways to go but this is one thing that's not super obvious to me bc I've never had a 15 month old.

  • DS would have to be beyond exhausted to sleep anywhere besides his crib or car seat.  So no, he doesn't nap in his stroller.  But it also sounds like you use your stroller much more than we do so it would probably be different.

But, have you thought about getting a double stroller and then wearing one of the twins?  Then by the time the twins are out of the carrier, DS1 would be more independent and possibly out of the stroller.

  • I rarely use our stroller anymore. So I don't see DS who is 22 months taking a nap in it anymore unless we were out all day and he was completely pooped. He has only fallen asleep once on the couch in the past year. Otherwise he is always in his crib.

This is us exactly, and in fact the same suggestion i was going to make... Also what ab a twin carrier for a few months to adjust, and see how so does in a stroller? There are some good twin carriers out there...
    Good luck!

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • My boys will be 16 mos this week. I don't think they've napped in a stroller since 3 or so months, but we are never out for very long.

I second the idea of wearing one of the twins. I still wear one and put one in a single stroller if I know the double won't be an option somewhere. I cannot even fathom how large and heavy a Joey seat would make a double stroller. It would be a total beast and it's hard enough to get around store racks/displays as it is. I LOVE my BJCM GT, which is a SbS. I am not a fan of tandem, so it's a great fit for me.

    Happy stroller shopping!
