Is The Bump like Fight Club?

Meaning, if you say something on TB is it supposed to stay on TB?

Being pregnant has been somewhat isolating for me…between the exhaustion, the preparations and lack of "going out for drinks".

That said, I have become really fond of this message board and the ladies on it.  When bad things happen to the women on here I genuinely feel bad and am always glad of good news.  This is new to me as I have never really done the "online community" thing before.

Last night I found myself talking with my husband about some of the funny stories, challenges and information I've read on here, and I stopped myself short.  I felt like I was breaking some sort of confidence.  Is this crazy seeing as anyone can lurk the board at anytime? 

I think my husband already thinks I'm crazy for becoming emotionally invested in lives of strangers…but that is a whole other topic!

My hubby just rolls his eyes when I talk about the bump or stuff my phone in his face to see a funny gif. No one else knows I'm on the bump though besides him.

Eta: He does not roll his eyes if I tell him sad things.

I share some of the stories and things I read here with my DH, but not other people. I don't comment nearly enough, but I read most post and I feel emotionally involved when things happen to people. I don't think other people would understand the "connection" that we have on here since they aren't going through it.

I share funny stuff and crazy stories with my DH, but like PP said: he doesn't understand the connection because he doesn't know anyone and he's not going through it.

I think you would only be breaking a confidence if you somehow stalked us to find our true identities and then repeated the info to people we know in real life. 

I mean, a) we're all anonymous here; b) when you put something online you give up any real expectation of privacy.

So, I think you're good. Unless you are stalking us. In which case, you should totes stop that.

My husband frequent his own message boards related to his interests so while he is not truly involved or interested in what I share, he does "get it." (I think.)

I don't share what I see outside of him because I have an internet stalker and don't want to draw further attention to myself.

My DH now asks if a "real friend" or a "forum friend" said whatever I am talking about. And I'm all..."they ARE my real friends!"

I tell DH about what happens on TB. I'm a bad fight club member lol. But my hubby "gets it" because we met on an online forum! I tell him about things that I come across on TB, I show him the hella funny memes/GIFs, he knows about my labor buddy @letsgobowlingx and when I tell him something I learned he's like "is that from the baby chat girls" as he calls everyone lol.

I tell DH the funny things. Earlier today I told him our waitress was a salty hoe and we bust up laughing. :>

My friends IRL are either already mothers with kids 6 years + or my age and younger who are career focused and do not want kids. I have no one in my situation. I like TB because we are all going through this at the same time. It definitely helps to think there are other people out there that "get" my crazy. One girl from my work knows I'm on here but only because she looks over my shoulder at my phone when I try to bump at lunch. I don't think she really gets what this is. DH knows but he doesn't tease me too badly about it. I think because he can't understand pregnancy like people on here do and you all keep me in good spirits. Would I randomly tell my friends...nope.

I talk about "my baby forum friends" to hubs all the time. Not sure he gets it, but he loves the predator and velociraptor references.

You will be surprised how even closer you become with these women if you stick through for a few years. I'm on an off board with some wonderful ladies that were expecting around the same time as my first. We were all on here together. We started talking pregnancy and now we talk kindergarten (incessantly). We've experienced all the good and bad you could imagine (and even not). Local ladies get together on occasion. I've even been part of one. We all met at an aquarium and did lunch with the kids, at that point some of us had two by then. Online friendships can can a wonderful thing, but we've definitely had our share of crazies. You still need to protect yourself to some extent.

Ha, I definitely tell my husband when a thread is getting me all hot and bothered (yeah he's getting an earful
Today) and when something is really funny. I'm sure he thinks it's strange but definitely not the strangest thing I do.

lol, my husband wishes TB was like Fight Club so I would shut up about it. But I tell him a decent amount of stuff - mostly the dramz or good news updates. I keep it all anonymous; just show him your pictures and sometimes we drive to your houses.

Whenever I have a symptom/dilemma or am wondering about something, my husband asks "what do your friends think?", meaning you guys.

Also, when we found out we were having another little boy and I was texting everyone I knew, he asked if I told my bump friends:-)

I am very close with my first bmb (moved to Fb though) and have even met a few on the moms. They are the "May moms" and by default you all are the "June moms". Dh has just learned to accept that I have real friendships (especially with my May moms) and so when I tell him a story that starts with "one of the ____ moms" he knows not to say anything negative or roll his eyes etc!

My DH is the most un-confrontation-al person ever. When I told him about some of the drama, he just about shuddered and said 'that stuff just bothers me!' So I've been keeping it to the funny stuff... But even the post about preventing stretch marks! He didn't think it was funny! I dunno what's wrong with him about that...

H just rolls his eyes when I say "I was in TB and..." He thinks I'm weird but knows me well enough to know I need something like this place. It calms my nerves. He also really appreciates the support I've gotten over the last few rocky weeks.

I only tell my husband the funny stuff or the drama. He knows what AW and SS mean, and he thinks it's all pretty funny. I'm pretty sure he has asked me more than once, "So do you guys just get on there and let all your hormones let loose or what?" lol I think he is just happy I have someone to ask questions to and get support and laughs from since we don't have any other close friends who are pregnant right now.

I don't think my SO gets it but as it keeps me calm he's ok with it. Also makes it so when I am winding down from work at 5 or 6 in the morning I don't wake him up. I just hop on here to see how you all are doing. I tell him about the funny stuff and he thinks those are great. You guys are really good support for me because there is no one I can really talk to about baby things. Mostly because I work with men and in the middle of the night. (Pregnant women should be sleeping or so I've been told.) so really I think I owe you all a big thank you for keeping me sane-ish so far.

I definitely tell my bf about some of the things on tb. He will often look over when I am on my phone and ask how the bump is doing. I also talk about it with some of my friends at work. No one has a baby yet so it just allows some different perspectives.
