DC & Solids?

DS will be 3 months on the 9th, and i am just curious as to when your DC started on solids. I think they are so much fun (2 kids i nannied for started on solids and i thought it was a blast!!) so im just wondering about how much longer before we get to start the madness :)

Re: DC & Solids?

  • I would definitely wait for your 4 month pedi appt, just to get some help in getting started. We just started in the last few weeks and it is going great. I love making her food and seeing her reactions to it! Good luck!

  • Our pedi suggested it at his four month appt.  He is doing really well.  We feed him rice cereal in the morning and the evening.  We'll try oatmeal next week and see how that goes and then start introducing fruits and veggies.  DS loves the spoon and gets giggly with us when he sees it!!
  • The recommended age is between 4 and 6 months.
  • Mine started today.  The recommendation is between 4-6 months, when your baby can sit with some assistance, has good head control, willingly takes a spoon, and starts showing an interest in your food as you eat.  Not before 17 weeks, as the digestive system is not fully closed so solids can lead to allergies and other problems.  Definitely wait until after your 4 month pedi appointment, you'll probably get the green light then!

  • We started two days ago. Our ped recommended starting at our 4 month appointment. ?It's going very well and is SO cute. ?DS loves it-- he grabs the spoon and tries to feed himself :)
