  • $500 for the hospital delivery ( I beleive another $40 for the anestesiologist if I choose to/need one)  $40 for each ultrasound/sonogram. All other services are covered. Not too shabby I have to say!

  • Depends on your insurance. With DD, I had a $1k deductible plus a $3500 max out of pocket. I paid $1,100 to my OB and then my hospital fee for a vaginal birth was around $2,700. I have a new job with new insuranc this time around. I'm 100% covered. No deductible. I am only responsible for the hospital co-pay of $300/day with a max of $900. So at most, I'm looking at $900. I am very lucky this time around.

  • I pay $ 276 each month for 8 months and then I'll pay any hospital bills, epidural, baby's bills, etc in addition. Probably around $3500 as I don't plan to have an epidural or stay for more than 24 hours at hospital... Depending upon time of birth I may stay less than 24 hours...and hopefully I can avoid an overnight stay;)
  • When this thread first got started, I freaked out a little thinking I had done zero research as I had no idea this could cost that much!  Well, randomly on Friday I got a letter from my OB saying I am 100% covered.  So, I am hoping that carries over to all the hospital bills as well.  I didn't realize how lucky I was!  My insurance is 100% employee paid.  I will just have to pay to add husband and baby this summer, but it pretty minimal.

Wow, some of you have awesome insurance... What insurance do you have that totals $0 for L&D? Are your plans employer based? I know some of you mentioned you are on military plans or Canadian, but besides those... I need to hear how people are getting such great deals?
I work for a public school and DH works for the state. They are employer subsidized, although we do contribute every paycheck. I'm not sure if just mine or just his would cover L&D, but combined I don't pay anything. DS is covered under both and we pay very little out of pocket for any medical or dental expenses. I don't get vision insurance and DH's sucks, so that's out of pocket, but I really have no complaints. Our insurance is pretty awesome.

  • Oh America catch up with the rest of the world! (Or at least take care of your citizens as well as you take are of your military)

We live in Germany so my costs will be zero. Regardless of how the birth goes. As, you know, it should be when you are insured. Don't even get me started on maternity leave.

My husband teacher at our local county-owned community college that has a strong union. He had the option of selecting a high deductible plan initially but we both have chronic health conditions so that would have been a bad idea for us. The portion of premiums he is responsible for are deducted from his paycheck.

With our insurance I pay a $10 copay at my first OB visit with a new pregnancy then all other OB visits for that pregnancy are free. I pay another $10 copay at my ultrasounds (NT and A/S). My deliver is $150 copay and that includes everything for me, baby and circumcision. We paid an extra $50 for a private room and parking was free.

Overall cost of pregnancy & delivery for us was $230.

I work for a large hospital system. All admissions are 100% covered. Therefore L&D is too. Surgery is 100% as well. All procedures, labs, etc are 100%. They just charge the one time 50 maternity copay. I do pay out of each check for medical coverage for the entire family but a reasonable amount.

  • I work for the state. I pay a $10 copay one time that coversme through pregnancy, labor, and delivery and 2-5 days in a Private room in the hospital (depending on vaginal v c-section birth). On the flip side, my insurance company was "grandfathered in" to obamacare, so no free breast pump for me.

  • With our insurance (which is through my employer) all standard prenatal care is covered under the preventative care umbrella, but ultrasounds and blood tests are subject to the deductible as is the birth and baby's care at the hospital. So we will likely be paying around 3-4k by the end, but our plan is an HSA so we should have that all covered by that account and (hopefully) not have to pay much if anything actually out of pocket in the end!
