Super Bowl Munchies

I need some ideas for Super Bowl Munchies. The food is the only thing I will care about on that game day, LOL. Last year we had way too much pizza and so I vetoed it for this year. In the past I have made Buffalo chicken dip and Buffalo chicken muffin cups. Both were mediocre at best. We will have 8-10 adults and 20-25 kids, though I am not really worried about the kids because nobody's ever seem to eat when we all get together.

  • I am doing buffalo wings, veggie/dip plate, and maybe pigs in a blanket if I'm feeling ambitious. If I'm in a really good mood it will be bacon wrapped pigs in a blanket.

I could eat my body weight in wings. My first pregnancy we ate them  at least once a week, sometimes more, and my Dh hasn't eaten a wing since then, LOL.

  • Queso is a MUST!

  • Check the franks red hot site for an awesome buffalo chicken dip recipe. French onion dip, chicken chunks on sticks with different sauces to dip in, veggie platter, mini sandwiches, sliders...

  • My crowd pleaser is pepperoni rolls. This makes three to five rolls depending on the Bread dough pack you buy
Rhodes (or other brand) frozen bread dough loaves

    Vlasic hot pepper rings

    Pepperoni

    Mozzarella Cheese

    Parmesan Cheese

    Egg - beaten

Thaw bread dough. Roll out dough to approx. 8" by 15" rectangle. (I
found the dough to be easier to roll out if you pull it and stretch
it by hand a bit, let it sit, and then try to roll it out in about 5 minutes).

Layer pepperoni, peppers and cheeses down one long edge. Fold
over. (Be generous and overlap the pepperoni) Place another layer of pepperoni, peppers and cheeses on top
of folded edge. Bring other side over and seal tightly. Place seam
side down on cookie sheet. (I think you can put 2 rolls on a cookie
sheet). Brush with egg. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes.
  • Just saw this: https://www.buzzfeed.com/tashweenali/essential-foods-any-super-bowl-party-should-have

We had a vegan Super Bowl last year (my dad was trying it out for health reasons) and had spinach and artichoke dip, cauliflower buffalo 'wings', and lentil sloppy joes. The spinach and artichoke dip I have since taken to potlucks and everyone loves it vegan or not.

Maybe make a special kids table with fun football themed things?

  • For the last two years I have done homemade pizzas and cheese sticks along with veggies, fresh fruit and these Oreo & Peanut Butter Brownie Cakes.  People could not stop eating the oreo & peanut butter brownie cakes.  They actually took extras home!  We will not be hosting this year...thank goodness!

  • We want to make a snack stadium, but haven't planned the menu completely yet. I think there will be wings, corn dogs, queso..
  • Homemade hummus! I always want hummus and veggies.

And jalepeno popper dip! Men LOVE this stuff. Because it's heaven.

  • I'll probably make my chicken wing dip, it's usually requested!! And most likely the other usual snacks like veggies/dip and cheese/pepperoni/cracker.
  • I'm going to make a few calzones, homemade onion dip (ina garten's recipe is so good), a veggie tray and some stuffed clams. DH is making jalepeno poppers and a ham. I'm thinking a trifle for desert.

All in all, way too much food for 12 people.

  • I'm making spinach dip that is my staple of what I bring to functions. It's so good.

  • OK so here is what the group has responded with thus far:

    -Hot dogs for kids
    -Veggie tray
-Jalapeno poppers (gross...didn't get eaten last time but who am I to mention that, lol!)
    -cake (no specification)
-sausage balls (I consider this breakfast food, lol)
    -queso
    -sopapilla

Maybe in two weeks some of this will sound edible but for now I'm going to work on your guys' suggestions.

Sounds like two of my usuals have been mentioned 42 times already (buffalo chicken dip n pizza rolls), so I will also add a super easy cheese ball.
    -8 oz softened cream cheese
-1/2 lb. thin sliced honey ham, chopped
-thinly sliced green onion (I typically use 3-4 onions/pieces, but you can adjust to taste)
-splash or two of worsteshire sauce (I might have just butchered that spelling!)
    -1/2 tsp garlic powder
    -chopped pecans
**mix all ingredients except pecans and chill for 4 hours or until firm
**when chilled, roll into ball and then roll ball in chopped pecans

Enjoy! So simple and always a huge hit!! I've made it without the pecans before n it's still delish :) If I'm feeling lazy (which I typically am) I microwave the cream cheese so it is reeeaaallly soft n easy to mix, and then I stick the finished mixture inside a disposable mini loaf pan to chill. Then I just grab a spreader n serve it as a spread more than a cheese ball. Same taste, easier cleanup, and just not quite as "pretty" presentation; but no one seems to care! I serve with a variety of crackers. This is also super easy to double.
  • We just had a small party for the games last weekend. I made:
    Kielbasa in the crockpot
    Honey BBQ wings from Costco
    Guacamole & chips
3 layered dip...cream cheese, salsa, shredded Mexican cheese & chips
    A veggie plate with dip
    Cheese & crackers
    Brownies & cupcakes

That was plenty for us, but we only had 10 people over
  • I second @MegK82 we are HUGE fans of these jalapeno poppers!!! I usually add a tiny bit of shredded cheese to the cream cheese along with a little garlic salt/powder and a little Old Bay seasoning. It tastes amazing

Also how DH makes them (not the Old Bay).

If he's soing a small batch, he'll add goat cheese. Yum.

  • Most of my go-to recipes have been mentioned, but jalapeno poppers with bacon are by far my favorite appetizer! I sometimes add fresh chopped garlic to the cream cheese, along with cheddar cheese and different seasonings. They go fast.

Another super easy recipe is taco cups. Use a cupcake tray and bake wonton wrappers into little cups. I usually spray each cup with cooking spray before I bake to crisp them up. After the cups are baked, fill with taco meat, cheese and any toppings you would like and then bake again until the cheese is melted. So easy and delicious.

    Also, I am starving now.

  • I made this dip a couple weekends ago for the playoff game.  It was a major hit!  I served the dip with Teddy Grahams and Vanilla Wafers.

@mullenem, the ham and cheese sliders are delicious!  The only caution I will give you is if you don't like dijon mustard, you may want to substitute for something else or lessen the amount.  They definitely have a dijon taste.  We loved them!

ETA:  Oops! Just looked at your recipe again and it is yellow mustard.  The one I used was dijon.  You will probably be fine then.

  • Buffalo chicken dip is my go-to for any potluck! Did you use fresh chicken? I always skip the canned and everyone loves it. No leftovers! Always use franks red hot.. Which recipe do you use?

Also.. these stuffed mushrooms are BOMB. https://m.allrecipes.com/recipe/15184/mouth-watering-stuffed-mushrooms
